Catchy title I know :)

In any case, I am trying to evaluate a datacenter in Amsterdam for the possibility of offering services to european clients.

If you live in Europe, anywhere, I would be FOREVER in your debt if you would kindly ping this IP for me:

63.218.64.37

Can you please post your results and where you are pinging FROM (location). THank You!

Just because an IP has a RDNS entry claiming to be from Amsterdam does not mean that the IP really is.

Well, its definitely not at that address (my traffic to it gets routed via france to that hostmark and pings are < 40ms. To the USA is over 100ms)

I did a visual traceroute on that IP and it never leaves the US for me.

Joseph_M

jpavleck, just because an IP is registered to a US corporation doesn't mean it resides in the USA. That IP is definitely in an EU datacentre at this moment in time.

ooh, Zen internet. I'm considering switching to them, mainly because of the free static IPs and backup 56k line free of charge (oh, and my current isp sucks :D)

How are you finding it? My ntl cable is great for ftp/p2p etc. where it's not using port 80. But any web traffic is horribly slow because of the forced overloaded proxy servers which often go down. Oh, and ntl's notoriously bad DNS servers (which you cant change because the proxies are configured to use them so changing them at your end makes no difference)
