Hello fellow WHT'ers

http://toplogosites.cam/ (replace the .cam with .com) is a web site that has been set up to rate logo design web sites so that the public do not get dupped into buying their logo design from a fraud.

The irony is that the site in question lists three sites that all belong to the same people and it is just a way to funnel traffic to these other sites.

Is this fraud or a smart marketing trick. They do advertise this site on google adwords too as well as other places.

It's hard to tell, why not ask them? ;)

It's not fraud... many people shill their products. It may be considered questionable marketing. It's not something I would do, personally, unless I was planning on listing other sites and perhaps including a disclaimer I own the others.

Stuff like this is REALLY, REALLY common with affiliate sites. They'll set up a page or two of "content" shilling a product and attempt to drive sales that way.

The thing is, anyone who does their homework (and I do my homework) would see all 3 sites are owned by the same person and instantly disreguard the entire thing, and buy a logo from somewhere else.

What about the lies though? I can understand it being OK (but questionable) if there were no lies. The whole thing is a sham though. The sources of the ficticious marketing surveys do not exist, the site says it has chosen from hundreds of sites. I think this goes a little further than marketing because they are playing a confidence trick on unsuspecting members of the public.

What makes fraud if this does not?

Ahhh, well, fake testimonials... that's not a first.

The fake survey results and that... yeah, it's pretty sleazy and probably border-line fraud.
