View Full Version : Shopping cart for non-shippable items?
Is that the right word to use? Shopping cart?
Anyways, this is what I want... I'd like to make 3D images, icons, and templates for sale. Someone should be able to go to my site, see previews of what they could buy, then they can buy it with a credit card or paypal and it'd send the image/template to them. Is there a script that can do this for me? Hopefully low priced or free?
demonmoo 02-23-2004, 11:52 PM There are quite a few shopping carts out there that support non-tangible items (whoiscart, phpcoin, oscommerce , etc.)
If you want them to automatically deliver your product by e-mail that could be a bit of a different story (there are some for sure) but if you are verifying the orders by hand its all good .
Well I'm not sure how I'd go about giving them the template/model. E-mailing them would take forever if I begin getting large orders, and letting them download it off my site could let anyone download it without buying it right?
Sorry, I'm not very familiar with carts and how they work.
demonmoo 02-24-2004, 12:12 AM You can have it e-mail them a password which would give them a certain amount of time to download the files .
www.liquid2d.com - This is almost exactly how I want it to work! Although I don't know what happens after you pay for what you want, this is perfect for what I need.
Anyone know what they use?
letsgo 02-24-2004, 04:11 AM Go have a chat with Dmitri Gurevich at trianic.com, he's modded OSC to your exact needs and will prolly give you a pretty good quote for it.
Oh good lord, just judging by those prices I can tell that wouldn't be for me. I have a pretty low budget right now.
cdgcommerce 02-24-2004, 05:49 PM You could also write some fairly straightforward code to handle that using the API's of a lot of popular gateway systems, like Authorize.Net and a few others.
Of course, that would take some time to do and I think you are asking for an off-the-shelf solution here.
You could always post a bid on someplace like RentACoder.com and specify your budget. :)
Alright..I set up osCommerence on my site. Anyone wanna help me out in making items downloadable after bought?
If you can help, my email is nick|at|nixfx.net
letsgo 02-25-2004, 12:21 PM The API isnt difficult at all.
Its protecting your stuff so that once someone pays they can't just post their access details to your downloads and the whole world and its dog can grab a copy.
Also be very very careful if your using Paypals API for this purpose.
cartika-andrew 02-26-2004, 03:12 AM Hi NFX - theres a contribution (with fairly good install instructions) available on the osC site.
www.oscommerce.com
This should be able to accomodate your requirements
sadcox66 03-01-2004, 08:49 AM Download and install the correct contribution
