Ok, I've been searching this forum for a couple of hours now & am still undecided about who to get a reseller account from.

These are the finalists (I think)

United Hosting, DonHost, Kualo & Catalyst2

Clook was in the running but their website was intolerably slow earlier & now seems to have expired.

I'm ideally looking for a UK based reseller, though I don't mind where their servers are.

Donhost I like because their top reseller package allows you to mix'n'match between Linux & Windows, though I saw another thread slagging them off in my search.

Kualo I like because they use FreeBSD

Needs: Branded nameservers
Popular control panel (e.g. WHM / CPanel)

Likes: Ability to offer Unix or Windows on one reseller package

Need help - Too much choice :bawling:

Of those, I would give Matt a try over at United Hosting. Probably the best (IMO) of the group and of alot of others out here to choose from.

Good Luck :)

I would recommend do a search not onyl here at WHT for information on the host, but also a search google. You may find some valuable information.

Hi

I would second that.

Well good luck in finding your host!

Your gonna need a Hsphere provider if you want Windows and Unix, ain't gonna find that on Cpanel.. Matt does have a solid reputation here...

That rules United Hosting out. ;)

I've heard good regarding Kualo but have no personal experience with them. You might also want to take a look at www.Rochen.com.

Not sure what host to recommend that offers both Unix & Windows. Good luck!

Sorry about your problem with the website. We've been experiencing some quite nasty attacks on that server this evening which have been flooding apache. We're on top of the blocking/filtering now so your browsing experience should be unaffected unless a new wave starts (during which there may be a bit of slowness while we're getting the new attacking IP's blocked)

I hate to say it but Sadly clook.net service - after my earlier praise on another thread is now beginning to look like the "other" services i've had

I know that all hosts have their problems, and some issues are beyond their control, but there is obviously some serious issues going on with this server and it's been happening on and off for the last 10 days or so. And for the last 24 hours my site has been up and down, almost continuously. Not good at all.

Clook isn't the cheapest host around, far from it - but now I find that i'm currently getting the same level of service from them as I got with the $6 / month ones previously. I paid a little more on clooks reputation, but find i'm getting downtime with the added insult of having to actually pay more for it!.

I can forsee getting attacked by the Clook supporters club for this post, but i've seen this happen before several times where a previously reliable service turns bad, ultimately followed by the inevitable move to another host .:bawling: .

I understand what you're saying but please don't think nothing is being done here. If it was something we were in control of (eg hardware, software, etc) I assure you it would get done without hesitation but attacks lke this are not only impossible to predict, they're also difficult to bring under control.

The attacks are continuing this evening and although in total there has probably been around 10-15 minutes http downtime this isn't too bad considering they've been going on for a matter of hours now (in todays wave). We're working hard and fast at keeping things up and running throughout.

I can assure you that everything possible is being done that can be and I'm confident we'll see an end to this (for the long term) very soon.

If you're worried about the 'good host turns bad' scenario happening here, don't be. I will not let these attacks bring down the work done over the past two years building up the reputation we have.

Sorry, I cannot edit so have to make another post. If your site has been up and down for the last 24 hours please open a ticket asap as this isn't server wide and unrelated to the attacks. This needs looking into and will be when the ticket is opened with the details.

Last nights attack ended at around 2.30am GMT but everything had been up and running throughout with the last apache restart at around 1.15am. Since then, all has been solid as a rock as far as general server/http/services uptime goes until a few hours ago when the attacks started again meaning there have been two or three 3-5 minute periods where slowness occured while filtering needed updating.

I believe in this!

Chris1973, I don't defend Jim (although he deserves it),
but tell me about good hosting company, who were not
in a similar situation!?
We have some accounts in various DC's and on different
continents, and almost of them (with small exceptions)
had the same problems.

Moving from one host company to another, doesn't solve
the problem. Believe me!

clook and Kualo would be my two choices.
