I've gotten back into the web design side after a semi-retirement and after I get finished with a site I have to tell them to find a host. So I was thinking instead of someone else getting the $ ?? per month......I would.

All I know is design not server implemation should I get a VPS or just a reseller account, seems like you can find great deals on both.

But, aren't the VPS accounts more dependant on YOU knowing server fixes, updates, monitoring etc.

What do you guys think.
also what plans to people recommend from what sites. I know a few that have told me about lypha.com for a reseller plan and apollohosting for a VPS plan any thoughts on those?

If that's the case then you should look for a reseller account. Unless your VPS provider is willing to help you out at every problem.

You might have times where you will need to install extra software to meet client needs, and if you aren't comfortable with the unix shell, then I wouldn't recommend getting a VPS account.

I agree that you should look at a Reseller Plan. If your core business is going to be web design then slowing yourself down to learn how to make a new folder at a prompt isn't going to be a good use of your time.

Start with a small reseller plan and upgrade it as per your need and Buy a Dedicated server finally.
