Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to design websites and make templates forever. It sucks because I don't really understand the concept of splicing, layers and so forth. I do have Photoshop 7 (and ImageReady) and have access many other web design software.

Basically I am interested in making templates, nice graphics, headers/footers and websites!

Any help or advice would be really appreciative. My next step would be Dreamweaver :P

Thanks everyone!

I would recommend first learning Dreamweaver. Get the hang of tables and inserting 'normal' pictures for now. Then you will start to get a feel for the rest of it - cropping images to fit within table cells is a step that you will learn mostly from experimenting in Dreamweaver. Don't get too frustrated for now because you can't build a whole website in a graphic editor!

Jeremy, actually what I do is just that.
I make all of the page in Fireworks and then I slice it and code it in notepad.

works for me. :)

I don't mean in in a bad way, but layers is one the core Photoshop's ideas and I would recommend you to dwell on it before you go any further. Read some tutorials or even buy some good book about Photoshop basics. Even PH's user's guide should help a lot!

Anyone interested in teaching me how to design? I don't mind paying as well... maybe one hour a day over MSN on how to make templates, use layers with Photoshop or Fireworks?

Please?

Thanks Guys!

I could teach you some basics. Anyways, if your into making templates flash is something nice to learn. Plus, I hear everyone saying dreamweaver well, though it is a nice wysiwyg program with many other features, I recommend using microsofts Front Page.
