Hi all,
Please help me on this, I have a site which run a heavy .asp forum ( about 25000 pages/day) and currently consume $30GB/month bandwith. I currently hosted with aspwebhosting.com for $99/month ( executive plan) but they has many downtime and the trace route to them is terrible. I want to find a new host that capable of hosting my forum and have better performance. The server should be at least dual CPU and running Win2K.

Could you suggest some host or give me some advice

I think you should try Crystal Tech they have excellent rates, and although they have 1 crzy technician, their service is good :)

No no no! for a plan of 45G/month they charge $189.95, i'd rather buy a dedicated server!

I think you've answered your own question.

Yeah, I the long run I'll buy a dedicated server, infact I hase been managing to buy one. But a Linux server doesn't run .ASP and still I want a shared hosting Win2K plan, until I can convert my forum code to PHP under linux ( seem impossible to me right now because it's very complex). It's great if I could find a host that offer shared ASP hosting , and offer dedicated server too, I don't like have contract with too host.
Any advice?

So I has to pay over $400 for Chilisoft lisence? Could you recommend a site with a lower price?

You don't have to buy a $400 license to use Chilisoft ASP. Well, you do if the host doesn't support it, but you can find hosts that support this option and avoid paying the $400 license fee yourself.

Not a specific host, but I know that RaQ4's come with Chilisoft so hosts who use these might offer it.

He's looking for a pretty powerful server, though. He keeps mentioning dual high-end processors and lots of ram. Not to mention lots of bandwidth. I've never used a Raq, but I keep hearing they can't handle a very high loads.

Thank you for all your comment, after reading and searching, I think what I need now is a host can satisfy me in one of two plan:

Plan 1:
- a shared hosting plan with >=40GB/month bandwith, and >=400MB disk space, to host my current web app ( the forum is part of that)
- a dedicated server to be my app database backend, and capable of hosting my customers sites. The specs would at least
Dual 1 Ghz P3, 1Gig Ram, 20GB IDE harddisk with Redhat and mySql installed, plesk Controlpanel and a good support. 50GB bandwith minumum.

Plan 2:
- a dedicatedserver that can handle all, the same specs should the same as in plan 1, but it must handle .asp ( yes, ChiliSoftASP seems to be the only solution) and bandwith would be (40+50=90) GB/month minimum.

What do you think? Which plan is best for performance, which is best for price? another problem is untill now I couldn't find a host that can do Plan 1 ( usually they lack of Win2k plan). Can you show some good ones for me?
Thank you very much
Best Regards

Plan 1 is likely to cost you more money. You want a dedicated server plus a shared account with over 40 GB of traffic. That's some massive pounding on a shared server (consider it could get 80+GB of traffic already).

If you went with the Plan 2, your server would take on all the bandwidth, and bandwidth is most times cheaper for dedicated accounts than for shared accounts.

If you *must* use ASP, considering the requirements you keep posting, I would consider getting either:

1) A dedicated server with Windows on it (not recommended -- but that's just me, I don't like Windows servers). You are likely to have to buy a Windows license and secure the heck out of it.

2) A dedicated server with a more reliable and secure OS like FreeBSD and purchase ChilliASP.

Either way, it looks like you'll have to spend dinero for the ASP. Another perk for unix/linux is Plesk. I've never administered a Windows machine, so I'm not sure if it has any control panels available. Plesk is nice. :)

Duh! Whoops! I forgot all about that after doing some editing and lost my train of thought. I don't think he needs a dual processor machine to run the site, though I'm not sure (this confuses me: "currently consume $30GB/month bandwith" so I'm not sure how much he pushes, nor the exact resources needed).
