I'm looking for a secure order form hosting solution. I want customers on my (unsecure) site to be able to click a button and be taken to my order form, and I want my order form to be secure so they can enter credit card info. But I want it to look like they never left my site. How is this done and who offers this service?

Thanks!

Do you have the ability to process credit cards now (merchant account) or do you need this as well? There are rather easy 3rd part billing type processors which can do this, if not.

Chicken,
I'll probably be getting a merchant account soon, but currently I don't have the ability to process credit cards.

I'm looking for a solution that is easy for customers, and where my business name is on the customer's visa bill, not some 3rd party name.

Don't know if this will help, but we use and recommend Card Service International for our Merchant Account and Thawte for our SSL Certificate. Both are very reasonable, reliable, and easy to set up. This allows you to cut out an additional middle man... if that's what you're wanting to do. You can learn more on their websites, of course, but if you want anymore nitty-gritty, let me know. :) And if you need any help give me a holler.

Oh, and you want to make sure that your host server supports SSL. Some don't, strangely enough.

Off the top of my head I think the websites are...
Thawte: http://www.thawte.com
Card Service Int'l: http://www.csi.com

You can purchase SSL certificates pretty cost-effectively at www.equifaxsecure.com or their new owner at: www.geotrust.com

If you do not yet have a merchant account, you can use a third party processor like www.propay.com

Does anyone have any experience with Secure Web Forms (http://www.securewebforms.com/) ? I found the link on google but I don't know anything about it. They claim to offer secure cgi, forms, shopping cart.

If you are wanting https://www.yourdomain.com, then you will need to make sure the host allows you to install your own SSL certificate. Some say they allow SSL, but it's only if you use their shared certificate. So, just verify it with them before you place any orders. Some hosts also charge a fee to install the SSL certificate for you, so ask about that too. Also, if you don't want to be hassled with the whole process, you should find a web host that resells Thawte certificates (like us), and just purchase everything through them. The price is exactly the same as buying directly from Thawte, so this is actually a pretty good option for those that have never done this before. We don't charge a fee to install the certificate, and even give you a web-based control panel to install the certificate yourself, if desired, but all hosts vary on how they handle SSL certificates, so be sure to ask questions first.

As a side note, you can purchase a certificate from any place that sells them, and they all work the same. BUT, be careful with Verisign. Their certificates only give you 30 days to decide to move your site to a new server after purchase. After 30 days, you are screwed if you want to change providers or even servers with the same provider, and will be forced to buy a new certificate. Another problem we have with them is that it's kind of a pain to get your certificate file from them, since you have to request it, and then they e-mail it to the technical contact. With Thawte (and possibly others), you can simply log onto their website and retrieve your certificate file instantly in various different formats.

Hope this all helps!

You might want to take a look at www.2checkout.com. You can see them in action on my site. Their fees aren't as low as for a real merchant account, but they're great to start out with as there are no monthly fees, and after the setup, you only pay for transactions.

They charge 45 cents plus 5.5 percent for every transaction, and offer services such as monthly automatic billing. So for example if you have a monthly charge with the value of $9.95, 2checkout will take just under $1.
