I bought this and tired installing it lastnight, installed the hub rather easily, and when i put the card into my laptop last night, the system would not reconize it, the slot didnt show anything in, and i noticed that when i would try to eject it, the button was very "hard" having to push it rather hard to get it out

so then i put the PCI card in my desktop, booted up just fine, shut down, put card in the slot, and the puter would not boot up last the blue DELL screen

Ideas? bad PC Card??

Well, why would the card be bad if it worked in the desktop? Do other PCMCIA cards work in your laptop? Say, a 56K modem card? The Linksys wireless systems require PCMCIA cards no matter if you are installing it in a desktop or a laptop, eh? And you are using the same PCMCIA card, eh?

Those wireless systems are a pain. Mine works just fine using the wireless dsl/cable router & AP. Then the card does too. You installed the drivers from the cd and it still isn't detecting it? It'd check the slots to make sure it wasn't going in diagnally or anything.

Ack... correction, I'm using the linksys router, but I'm using the d-link pc card in the laptop. The linksys stuff card didn't work I believe. I'd contact linksys and talk to them about it. Their e-mail support seems to be like the lottery though... a 1 in a gazillion chance of getting a reply. :|

I went back to Compusa, and returned the card, and got a new one, just booted it up, and sure enough, the card is being seen now :)

I will let you know how it turns out :)

I bet it was just a bad card, or it had been statically fried when it was taken out of the bag.

It was in fact a bad card. I now got my wireless system setup, and I am using PCAnywhere to work on my desktop which is downstairs from my laptop upstairs :) hehe...
