View Full Version : Pro-Active Server Management Services?

Can anyone tell me if any of these companies/people (or others not listed here) do the following:

Pro actively manage a webserver to the point where, for OUR company, the day-to-day operations of operating the server and selling hosting becomes close to the experience of a RESELLER.

I am primarily looking for feedback from those that are using outsourced server management.

How is outsourcing server management working for you? Are they catching problems, fixing problems and pre-emptively stopping problems from appearing (like your own staff would) ?

Some general ideas of what I envision:

1. I would like the company we choose to compete with us in terms of identifying a problem with the server (catching services down, compromised server, etc.)

2. I would like the company we choose to have the talent and freedom to fix a clear problem by themselves. I.e. a "run-away" process that needs to be restarted. Or a server that isn't booting after a crash, needs to be trouble shooted and perhaps work with datacenter staff to get it resolved.

3. If we tell them, email is bouncing, DNS is acting up, control panel is on the blitz they can jump in and fix it immediately. And in many cases hopefully catch some of these issues before we do.

From the past posts I have made a short list of companies that provide some sort of server management:

Greetings:

(Moderators, I accept your judgement if answering the post is done incorrectly on my part).

Our clients tell us we are proactive.

If you are a H-Sphere customer with access to their customer-only forum, see
http://www.forum.psoft.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6674&perpage=25&highlight=WeManageServers&pagenumber=2 for one example.

My recommendation is that you would call the providers you listed asking for recommendations.

Then call the references, and ask questions.

Thank you.
