Hi,

I am looking for a way to register tld's for the europian countries that are open for EU companies.
I am based in the Netherlands and had no troudle registering
.nl .de .be .co.uk and of course .com

But it's hard to find good info on other domains like .it .no .dk .lu .fr .pt .gr etc etc I got advice to look at the local hosting companies but do not know who to trust and where to turn too.....so I need some advice from you

Best regards,
Edwin Boiten

For .it domains the cheapest is www.aruba.it. (around 10 euros)
Register.it has a better package but is dearer. (around 35 euros)

Most european tlds are very restricted (local precence/trademark required...).
You can use www.dd24.net for .de, .be, .co.uk , .ch, .li, .at and .com.

No longer true. Some still have restrictions, but a lot have opened up in the last few years and are now either totally unrestricted, or have just a few restrictions left.

It's always best to get information straight from the horse's mouth. Links to all worldwide ccTLD registries can be found here:

That is just the problem I am running into. If you look at the prices asked you will see this.

A dutch company will ask € 10,- to € 20,- for the .nl domain but will ask alot for every other tld that is not common to them.
Same with german, belgian etc etc. If you can register a .nl at a portugese companie you will pay an arm and a leg as there are several parties that want te be paid.

That is why I was trying to get some local info from ppl out of Europe...
If you are from italy tell me where you register if you are from denmark do the same for your country coz guys like speednames, register.it and godaddy to name a few is not what I was looking for. And if this means I have to deal with several companies....I do not mind as long as they are good and not expensive

Regards,
Edwin

We are based in Ireland and the bulk of registrations we handle would be either CNO or IE. We have agreements with other companies for most of the EU ccTLDs, though we are still looking for good prices for some.

DK Hostmaster (http://www.dk-hostmaster.dk/dkhostcms/bs?action=cmsview&language=en) handles the Danish(.dk) domains. To be able to register .dk domains on behalf of your clients, you need to pay a certain amount of money (I don't know how much), and there are other requirements as well. Check the website (http://www.dk-hostmaster.dk/dkhostcms/bs?action=cmsview&language=en).

Speednames ---> their helpdesk never replied to my e-mails.

I can ad some extra info :

for .co.uk I'd go with ScotReg, very fast helpdesk and good prices.

for .it you can only own 1 domain unless you have a company in Italy. Companies can own more than 1 domain.

.es and .pt are still very restricted. For Spain you can register a .com.es without address in Spain.

.lu requires an address in Luxembourg.

.at can be registered at different places and is unrestricted. www.nic.at

.ch + .li have no restrictions. www.nic.ch registers both of them.

.fr requires an address in France, but the policies are very likely to change soon. www.nic.fr for info on this.

.be : cheapest registrars I know are domeinpark.be and computools.be (those are the ones I know that are below 10 € a year)

.gr must be registered via www.nic.gr and require lot of paperworks. But policies may change soon.

.hr requires an address in Croatia.

.se can be registered via the Swedish registry, but I don't know if there are (cheaper/better) registrars.

.is requires an address in Iceland.

AlterNET registers all of these domains. Maybe you can mail them to ask how they can deliver you the domains where there is local presence required.
They have a very fast helpdesk as well. www.alternetdomains.com
