Hi there
We're IT company enter hosting business. A guy from ******* sent me a quote

2 x 1Gig P3
1 Gig PC 133 SDRAM
2 x 20 Gig IDE ATA/100
50 GB/month Transfer (additional B/W : $3/Gig)
Plesk 2.0 (30 license domains)
24/7 reboot support
RedHat 7.1 OS

Setup: $300
Monthly: $300

I think that's the best I can found, but the bandwith is quite low for a hosting-provider and $3/Gig seems a bit high to us. Could anybody here give me an advice about ******* or another hosting solution?
I 've read some post here about misterbeans.com hosted with *******, although tracert route to ******* is fast, the tracert to misterbeans.com seems not good, if I host with *******, will I have the same problem:

Are you sure that site is hosted with ******* ? It shows en1.net , the parent company of Rackshack, if I am not mistaken.

Aseanhosting,

There must be a misunderstanding here... misterbeans.com used to be our dedicated customer but he in no longer with *******. I believe he moves to a virtual hosting with someone else.

Anyway, do a traceroute to www.*******.com to check out our IP route.

Please do not hesitate to email me at ed@*******.com if you ever have any questions.

Thanks :stickout

Ok, I just found out his site in not on your server,so the main question is
Is this dedicated server good enough for our plan, we intended to host about 100 sites on that server

2 x 1Gig P3
1 Gig PC 133 SDRAM
2 x 40 Gig IDE ATA/100
50 GB/month Transfer (additional B/W : $3/Gig)
Plesk 2.0 (30 license domains)
24/7 reboot support
RedHat 7.1 OS
16IPs

And if the server okey for us, the second question: is this price good, can we find somewhere on the net with better deal?
Setup: $300
Monthly: $300

I think 50GB/month is a bit low, but I can't afford another 50GB for $150, so any one have the same or higher config with over 50 GB/month ( maybe 100) at this price?

Thank you very much for your advice

Aseanhosting,

What you're getting is our high end server that could handle many websites and traffic.

We have a webhost running similar configurations and host hundreds of website on his server. The only difference is he is running dual scsi drives. The server is running without a hitch.

The question to ask is probaly what kind of websites are those 100 sites?

If one site is a high trafic adult site, another is resource intensive database driven site and another site is getting bombarded with thousands of traffic per day ?

As far as pricing goes, I can't really make any comments since it would be biased :D :) :stickout

Hope we can serve your needs in the future.

This should go without saying, but your 30 domain license on Plesk is not enough for 100 domains. Keep that in mind....

I checked our customers site status on our resold server, they're almost static html, some had cgi mail form or cgi forum with under 50post/day. But there's one large site that eat up approximaetly 40 GB traffic/month. I also noticed that some site use .asp with VBscript, so 50GB/month seemed too low for us and I think of at least 100Gig/month.
Another problem is I want to offer .asp hosting , what I have to do because Linux server doesn't support it, could you install it for me a fee or I have to buy the software from their site. Anybody here is reseller of ChiliSoftASP or InstantASP who can provide me a better price than there site?
Thank you very much

well
******* is great and all..... they use verio... but my concern with them is this.....
No matter what dedicated server plan you get
your server is capped at 300k/sec.. yes... kilo-bytes... not bits... so i mean... what if your server gets popular, or busy... u wont have much bandwidth... i mean whos to say u will be constantly using that bandwidth, bu still u konw never... It could happen..
i have servers at other places, and they push 2megabytes/sec and higher...

i would rather prefer that, then just a 300k/sec. I asked them could they raise it if i needed it raised, and they said they couldn't.... Not unless i started paying thousands of dollars a month. forget that

Aseanhosting,

Plesk supports ASP extension. Look at it yourself here:
http://www.plesk.com/html/products/psa/v2features.htm

Hope this helps

300kbytes/sec is quite enough for us this moment, but their price 3$/G/month could bite us when we reach high transfer permonth, currently all my customer already reached 45G/moth. I know $3/gig is not expensive but still looking for a lower rate.

PLESK support managing Apache:ASP extension, but nowaday no one use Apache:ASP because it written in perl script. I want my server to support .ASP as normal as people develope it ( VBscript), so ChiliSoft or Instant ASP is good for that.

Aseanhosting, the capped bandwidth maybe enough for you now, but you should always provide for future expected needs. I would advise getting burstable bandwidth up to at least 10 Mbps and preferably 100 Mbps.
