I would like to request some feedback on server charging and paying for a dedicated server.

1) If you are a host, how much would you charge your client for these servers?

2) If you are a client, how much would you be willing to pay for these servers ?

Depends on the amount of bandwidth, and what sort, BGP-4 with good carriers. Or a single one, like, cogent :)

To answer your question 2, as a client, I would not pay more than $130 and $150/month respectively for a dedicated server with such specs (without bandwidth), because otherwise I can finance the purchase through my credit company or qsol directly and co-locate the server, paying $35-$50/mo. per U + bandwidth.

To answer your question 1, as a host, I would not lease the server for less than $300 (without bandwidth), because there are just no lower prices on the market.

As a Host.

I would not lease a server for more than 24 months .. and that's pushing it .. after 24 months ANY server is almost useless :)

I agree on Carlos Rego on this. If I am a host, I would only lease the server at most 18 to 24 months. Even after 24 months, the server is already obselete.

Carlos, can you give your view on how much a host should charge?
