ok before everyone tells me how much godaddy's backordering system sucks, lemme jus say that imma broke college student and cost is my biggest limiting factor here :(

so a little more than a week ago, i put a domain name on backorder with godaddy... the domain's record had originally expired sometime back in november of last year, and had not appeared to be renewed by the owner. great, i say to myself, so i watch if for a bit and decide to backorder it with godaddy, since the price seemed pretty reasonable.

i'd get periodic emails saying that there was usually not changes detected, but occasionally it would notify me when it changed status. well about a week ago, it notifes me that it has gone into PENDINGDELETE status. woo hoo! i exclaim, it looks like i might have a chance at this one. it says the scheduled delete date is 2-14-2004. so i wait till today, and lo and behold, godaddy notifes me that the backorder failed for some reason, however the status of the domain is still listed as PENDINGDELETE. so i decide to remove and re-add (is that a word?) my still unused monitoring credit to the domain name again. so when i added it, it of course told me the previous monitoring history will be deleted, but i did it anyway. now its still saying its in PENDINGDELETE status.

so whats the deal? is it indeed still in PENDINGDELETE status, but it just hasnt been deleted yet? or has someone else already snatched it and im just wasting time and i should get back to studying? :bawling:

and btw, i'd tell you what the domain is, but i dunno if thats a good idea.. imma bit of a n00b this all this domain name stuff and im paranoid someone might steal it if its still available :crap:

It means it will be deleted 6 days from the last update (which is no longer available, unfortunately).

The domain most likely dropped and has been snapped up already. Wait 24-48 hours for WHOIS data to show.

The whois update on com/net isnt instant, so it wont be reflected for hours. Try looking tomarrow and contacting the new owner of the domain name.
