dany0402 02-12-2004, 03:09 PM Anybody ever hear of hostdime.com? The customer support is terrible there. They supposedly have a bunch of people working there yet when I send in an email it takes over a day to respond to. and the owner manny...hes a character all by himself. He even cursed at me once. Why is good customer service so hard to find. Sorry for posting this but manny just p*ssed me off.
warner2 02-13-2004, 04:41 AM In defence of manny, he can be very very helpful at times - but sometimes yes, he is a bit off with people....
LBOCEAN 02-13-2004, 06:34 AM I recently signed up with this company. Good bang for the buck. They do have their share of problems, and for the little time I've been with them, I've had mine too.
But, not without them (the crew) working everyday on trying to get things cleared up.
The approach I took was keeping it stricktly business when trying to get things resolved. I know there busy enough, and I know from running a tech support division for over 10 years, when there nice to me, I work harder for them.

No matter how helpful he is i think cursing at customers is a definite no no.
warner2 02-13-2004, 09:13 AM true.
ƒreshwater 02-13-2004, 10:54 AM I used to work there - and they can throw moods.
warner2 02-13-2004, 12:29 PM oh good - moody mad manic manny - marvellous ;)

Intresting....
WWiRE 02-14-2004, 12:46 AM I was thinking about getting a dedicated server there. There is a site that is just like it, it may be a parent site or something - surplus hosting or something like that. Any more info on hostdime?
warner2 02-14-2004, 04:19 AM surpass hosting? is a sister company or something to HD.
I think HD is the main one though......
Just from his posting on other forums (isn't he banned here?) he seems like a petty jerk. Enough to make me keep clear of his company.
warner2 02-14-2004, 10:14 AM why is he banned from posting?
kalash 02-14-2004, 10:46 AM their TOS etc doesn't seem to be that great ...
isn't there anyone who had good experiences with them? their dedicated server packages look great, I considered this compagny one of my favorites for future services.
Achilles[Ryan] 02-15-2004, 04:36 AM I'm a currently a HostDime dedicated customer and feel that my experience with them has been very positive. Sure, we've had a few bumps, but they just recently helped me out quickly and devoted a lot of time to restoring our server when it was hacked and their support techs are usually pretty easy to get ahold of and have done a lot more for me than any other hosting company I've been with. They also offer a lot of extras (like software, documentation) to their customers, which I appreciate. No one is perfect, but I feel like they certainly try to please their customers.
Jay H 02-15-2004, 04:57 AM A little off topic...

Yes, they are.
Contact was made 3 weeks ago with the company, and we are assured they will no longer be using that name in the future.
I don't wish to comment on this board regarding the matter however, as I feel it is not proper grounds.

NickRac 02-16-2004, 02:17 PM About HostDime, I'm writting a full review on them and the services I ordered from them...Not a pretty picture at all.
mikebrevig 02-16-2004, 10:56 PM I hosted with them, a week after my account was set up I started to receive large amounts of spam (mostly porn) to my default email account. I thought that this was odd. I contacted them for support and they seemed very nice and helpful.
But i did end up moving to my own box on serverbeach

HostDime 04-06-2004, 12:56 PM Hello Mr. akatay,
Your website is suspended firstly for bandwidth, you failed to make payment for the current month April and even with that not being paid you used up already over 101 gigs in 6 days.
We sent you the link to make payment and you refuse.
I don't know how many other hosts will render that much service (101 gigs) without payment.
Please contact us to arrange payment and get your website backup in a timely and professional matter.
thank you for your cooperation

You were supposed to setup payment to be on the 16th
of this month as I requested remember? Go ahead and
setup up my reseller account and bill us on the 16th.
You owe us at least a week free for all this trouble
anyway. My site has been down all day because of the
bandwidth limit! They finally cut that up and it's
still not working, I can't even get into my control
panel or email! Please get my reseller account setup
so this will be resolved once and for all! I really
don't have time for all this back and forth meanwhile
my site isn't getting updated and thousands of my
members are constantly being disappointed including my
son who likes to play the flash games on 2CRUNK.com

You are getting the reseller plan today so you need to pay for it today
that is how it works, you pay for goods you get goods.
plus your site is being suspended for bandwidth you have not paid which is why I am sending you the link to make payment.
You still haven't paid for this month on the none reseller plan as it is.
We can not render space and bandwidth without you paying it. Your site has used over 101 gigs in 6 days without no payment

Citron 04-06-2004, 03:10 PM I am a former Hostdime customer. In agreement with several of the other people that posted; to say it nicely, Hostdime is lacking in the customer focus department. Also, my site, which was static HTML, was inaccessible on a regular basis.
rokamortis 04-06-2004, 03:47 PM I was with Hostdime for a while. They weren't too bad in my eyes for customer service. All responses were usually within a few hours. I had setup a reseller account with them but didn't use it for much besides development. When I started hosting production level sites on it then things turned bad. The server was being overtaxed by the other people on the box and would cause a lot of problems.
So I decided that although the pricing was reasonable I needed to go dedicated and not be at the mercy of the other customers. But in investigating a dedicated solution I realized that it wasn't cost effective for me not to mention the time it would take to manage it. So I decided to split the difference between shared and dedicated and went with a managed VPS account and have been extremely happy in the 3 or so months that I have been with a VPS.

I don't see anything wrong with Hostdimes post. Akatay is here complaining of his site being down. Then he is commenting on how bad thier service is cause his site is down and it is his fault his site is down not HostDimes. Any other host would suspend someones account in the same manner if it was them. If he doesn't want this information posted on a public forum. Then he shouldn't come to a public forum and bad mouth a host. HostDime has nothing else to do but explain why he is here doing so.
Just my thought on it.
TheArtist 04-07-2004, 06:32 PM No host would curse at their customers, even if their customers used bandwidth they didn't pay for. It sounds like HostDime was trying to do there best to help dany0402.

agreed.
Please dont post bad stuff about hostdime here if they suspended your account for a legitimate reason (such as fail to pay). Im trying to get some feedback on them as I am planning on purchasing a reseller plan.
sungoddess80 04-14-2004, 02:10 PM Obviously the company is doing something right to have publicity, whether the threads on the front page of this Web Hosting Forum are positive or negative.
Bad news from one person travels faster, than good news from 10 people that was never spoken.
