CagedTornado 10-16-2001, 12:07 PM How much is additional bandwidth?
Matt2001 10-16-2001, 12:30 PM I'm sorry, but we do not provide additional bandwidth for our virtual accounts. We do not want to overload our servers, and providing additional bandwidth could cause a potential problem. IF you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me again,
JBIZ718 10-16-2001, 01:02 PM How many of these accounts are on a machine
Also what datacenter are your servers located.
ALso how are you getting bandwidth at 66 cents per gb

Maybe this is a stupid question.
But what will happen if a customer goes over their BW limit? his account will be suspended until the end of the month? he don't have option to get more BW?
Matt2001 10-16-2001, 02:57 PM We try to keep between 150-250 accounts on a server. We do our best to load balance between our servers, so that one isn't always peaked out and another is only at 25% cpu usage.
Our servers are located at vdi.net
And, as everyone in the hosting business knows, not all customers use their full bandwidth. Most sites are small, and pull about 500mb-1gb per month. Some sites use their full allocation of bandwidth. We've done some studying of our customer history, and taken the average bw usage per month, and set our prices accordingly.
If you have any more questiosn, please feel free to ask,
Matt2001 10-16-2001, 03:04 PM It's not a stupid question. We have only had a few occurances of this, but it has happened. As i said, we don't like to overload our servers. We consider any site pulling over 30gb per month to be too large for a virtual hosting account. At that time, we encourage them to go with a dedicated server. We don't offer these on our site, but we do set them up for special cases. We are working on changing this. When we get to our new datacenter, we plan on setting up a few machines specifically for high volume sites. That way, we will be able to allow virtual hosting customers to burst up to 50gb per month without overloading our servers.
ANy more questions, please feel free to ask,
dektong 10-16-2001, 03:10 PM you haven't answered the question, my dear friend!
What will happen if an account pulls more than the allocated 30GB/mo? How much will you charge for this overage bandwith?
cheers,
Matt2001 10-16-2001, 03:57 PM SOrry about that dektong,
After 30gb, the account is put on hold until the end of the month. We do not offer extra bandwidth at this time. When we get to our new datacenter, we will be changing our policy and putting up special machines to handle these types of accounts. For now, we are do not want to jeopardize the accesibility of all the sites on that machine because 2 or 3 sites are using all the system resources. I don't like the fact that the high bandwidth site just gets put on hold either. We're working on ways to fix this,
JBIZ718 10-16-2001, 04:13 PM If you dont mind me asking is there any realationship with you and Liquidweb
Those Plans seem very similiar to theres
Just a simple question
Joe
Ericwenlong 10-16-2001, 04:33 PM A reseller?
Matt2001 10-16-2001, 04:37 PM Jbiz,
Yes, there is a relationship between us and liquidweb. We currently use their dedicated servers for our hosting. We were a liquidweb reseller for sometime. I haven't felt the need to change the hosting plans because i think the features are good. Like i said, plans are underway to head out on our own. I've had no troubles with liquidweb, i just want to own the servers, locate them at a datacenter of my choosing, and add NT hosting.
Bubble 10-16-2001, 08:31 PM nah, they are hosting parner with liquidweb.

I don't recommend this kind of hosting since all tech support will pretty much depend on Liquidweb. And sometime, their tech support have no idea on what they are talking about.
Matt2001 10-16-2001, 09:00 PM Bubble,
First of all, your post is purely speculation. I'm pretty sure that the bill i recieve each month from liquidweb is for a dedicated server. I know, because i pay that bill myself.
Secondly, we handle all of our tech support. The only time we contact liquidweb is if there is a problem with the server (current uptime=76 days), or our ability to connect to it (network downtime).
Get-Hosted.com 10-16-2001, 09:06 PM Decent questions, great answers.
JBIZ718 10-16-2001, 09:10 PM 1. it was a simple question.
2. From research I know liquidweb has those exact plans.
There is nothing wrong with gathering information, and Matt had no problem answering those questions. So I dont really see the point of your post, then to start a argument.
If Matt had a problem he wouldnt of answered it, but he did and did it with class. He also said he has a machine with them and I usually take people on there word. So I really dont see why not to ask those questions...
I havent asked one since.
Good Form Matt

JBIZ718 10-16-2001, 09:26 PM As I said once, I like getting information.
And as I also said, Matt had no problems answering the question, so I dont see a problem.
In the end this is Matts post, and he obviously had no problems.
Also I have every right to ask those questions. Just because I own a company doesnt mean I cant. I said nothing disrespectful, so whats the problem...
I also didnt know you were into mind reading, let me know if thats a serious subject of knowledge for you ....
