My site just disappears off of the net, no explanation, no phone number to contact, slow response to my email (guess that 30 minute guarantee is thrown out the window). On HostCheck they say they are in Orlando (phone is non working FL number), they sell on eBay and they say they are in Pittsburgh, PA (also non working PA phone on eBay). The closest I got after research was

<personal info removed>

but that phone number just ringers continously. So this seems like a scam to me. None of their domains that i know of (kaphost.com, kapsupport.com, kapdns.com) have any phone number or address listing in the WHOIS and all thats listed on the WHOIS and on their paypal email address is "gaming toolz".

After doing further research on them I find out that they are NOT offering unlimited traffic like they claim but its 150GB hidden limit and once you go over that they shut you down. I have about 20 sites under them and I was at like 160GB total when I last checked. They claim its a cPanel licensing error, then they claim they are upgrading server kernels, then they claim that the server was being overload (have all their emails). My sites have been down since the early morning of Feb 4th, it is now the 6th and still the same "we are hard at working trying to figure this problem out" email.

To make matters even worse I also noticed that other sites using my IP address and that are in my box are working perfectly. I cannot log into cPanel from the IP address (which I usually could do, doing the many times that their servers we're down) so I'm beginning to think that this "hidden limit" thing is true.

I was really dumb when I first started hosting with them but since reading the posts on this and other boards about some reseller hosters (which kaphost is through theplanet and servermatrix and they have a liquidweb ns entry also) im beginning to think that they are seriously overselling space and traffic that they do not have.

I still havent gotten my money back.

Any suggestions on how I can recover my site or go about with this?
Has anybody else had any problems with these people?

Please let me know

STAY AWAY FROM LIKE THE PLAQUE!!

This is a street in lake mary florida

<personal info removed>

So it could be his real address I only live 4 minutes from that street. Good luck in getting this solved and getting your sites back up.

from kaphosts about page:
"The Bandwidth is wide open and we NEVER overload them."
well, i guess its never overloaded because reseller usage is limited.

i searched the TOS.. which is hidden deep inside, and no where does it say anything about limits, so then i waited about 8 mins on the live response, and i got:

Support Team: Hello how may I help you?
andrew: about the special offer
andrew: is there a limit?
Support Team: Hi
andrew: i searched the tos, and dont see anything about limits
Support Team: please send a mail to tech@kapsupport.com
andrew: ?
Support Team: our admin will assist you on this
andrew: ok

it takes an ADMIN to tell me this? please

people shouldnt do business this way. falsely offer unlimited bandwidth when its 150GB limit. people need to know about these scammers

i mean come on, 150gb limit on a reseller account? you can easily go over that with 10 hosting accounts.

and with that convo xiao had with their so called "support" thats sufficient enough proof right there.

damn how dumb can i be.....

and they have perfect feedback on ebay to, so i thought i had a winner.......NOT

now to figure out how i can recover my site from them....

I think we all know that there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. I would think that this is a simple marketing tactic that some hosts use so I am not surprised here :D

Wow, what sites are you hosting?

But frankly speaking $25/month for the "hidden" 150GB bandwidth/month is still very cheap :D.

It is a residence. I can't drive by there I really don't get in the middle of other hosts business. Even the phone book has the same information you provided

<personal info removed>

So if it rings and rings I take it that this is his real information. So just keep calling untill you get a hold of him.

yup, never ever by unlimited, its simple common sense that if a host is paying $100/mo on there server with lets say 400GB bw, then there is NO WAY, they can offer you unlimited for $25/mo.

Sorry to hear your bad luck. Maybe you should get a dedicated server if you are using that much bandwidth.

you still seem to be under the impression that you will be able to get "unlimited" bandwidth somehow?

I would advise you to stay away from hosting providers that have unlimited disc space or bandwidth plans. These simply do not exist - it's a marketing technique.

Most of the so called unlimited ones have other conditions in the TOS, giving them the right to shut down your site whenever they feel you might be going over the unspecified resouce limit.
