Aea 02-10-2004, 10:22 PM http://whois.cc ? Or some domain like that :P PierreB 02-10-2004, 10:22 PM whois.sc dsotmoon 02-10-2004, 10:27 PM Originally posted by PierreB whois.sc yep, .sc, it will show total domains, not total active websites fuse1982 02-10-2004, 10:28 PM but that number is not THAT right! it's more than what i'm hosted, how am i gonna explain. BTW, i can't reach whois.sc and whois.cc fuse1982 02-10-2004, 10:30 PM do you all tell how many websites are hosted at your server? i mean the real number. UH-Matt 02-10-2004, 10:33 PM Originally posted by fuse1982 do you all tell how many websites are hosted at your server? i mean the real number. There is no real reason why not, unless you have something to hide or are ashamed of the figure ;) PierreB 02-10-2004, 10:34 PM and there comes matt with a ncie reply heh FTPguy 02-10-2004, 10:39 PM Originally posted by UH-Matt There is no real reason why not, unless you have something to hide or are ashamed of the figure And if so, cry and tell mods to close this thread. ;) UH-Matt 02-10-2004, 10:44 PM Indeed! ;) fuse1982 02-10-2004, 10:48 PM what if i only hosted 200 websites but that number shows 400, do you expect the customer will believe i only host 200 at my server? actually it's trure i only host 200+ websites at a server! UH-Matt 02-10-2004, 10:50 PM "only host 200+" .... that could be 400.... whats with the plus? :) Maybe you have domain aliases or parked domains on the server, these would count as whois.sc runs by querying dns. Cirtex 02-10-2004, 10:50 PM Well, if you have reseller accounts or shared ones with addon or parked domains then it can double easily ;) Douglas 02-10-2004, 10:59 PM It all depends on the domains themselves. While I may have over 150 domains on my server, whois.sc will only show a few of them, since several are add on domains, and are under reseller accounts, or are just parked. whois.sc isn't exactly 100% accurate. Str 02-10-2004, 11:00 PM You can not hide those stuff from a knowledgeble user..although you can make it difficult. More disturbing is the fact that on most control panels you can use http://ip/~adminname ( on ensim 3.1 it was http://ip/~admin1 to http://ip/~adminxxx as far as I remember ) and *see* all the sites hosted. That doesn't require much knowledge for user to figure out anyways. :D :stickout: So I would suggest everyone not to hide anything from user and just tell him honestly how many sites etc you have. ;) MStar 02-10-2004, 11:02 PM http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/myht/YOURDOMAIN.COM (in caps) Kevin 02-10-2004, 11:02 PM This will tell you how many domains have a certain nameserver listed, not how many customers or domains a company has. fuse1982 02-10-2004, 11:47 PM he got it from my main server ip not nameserver, and can you access whois.cc/whois.sc? i can't...try proxy later. Shrill 02-10-2004, 11:54 PM I can access http://whois.sc - it is up. whois.cc doesn't work for me however, I don't think there is a site there. thedavid 02-11-2004, 04:24 AM Originally posted by MStar http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/myht/YOURDOMAIN.COM (in caps) That thing emails me every month, and every month that they have it's been off by a wide margin. Take it with a grain of salt :) -David heavypredato 02-11-2004, 05:59 AM it doesnt matter much how many domains you host more important is how much accounts and on what hardware |
