View Full Version : WHNBilling Closed
AlaskanWolf 10-15-2001, 01:18 AM Public Notice:
Web Hosting Network has closed public sale of WHNBilling indefinitely. Current customers of web hosting network's dedicated and collocation services are able to purchase our product.
Various reasons include mainly a shift in management and a high rate of chargeback and fraudulent orders.
As you may know, large chargeback's such as the cost of WHNBilling ($600) is allot worse then a simple $45 virtual hosting chargeback.
We decided it would be in the best interest in every involved to close down WHNBilling until a later date.
For those that still have a copy of WHNBilling, you can still receive support by opening a trouble ticket in our HelpDesk
superiorhost 10-15-2001, 01:38 AM This is truly sad news. This is one of the best billing softwares to hit the market for hosts.
You may rethink things in time, and make your new customers pay by Western Union or Bank transfer... That way YOU are protected from a charge back.
It would cause the merchant account bank to really say NO to you about selling this higher priced item after a couple chargebacks. I am sorry to hear that once again, the few spoiled it for the many.
All I can say is it was the best $600.00 I ever spent towards my company. Also, I think the only people that would bock at a wire transfer would be the crooks anyways.
Just my 2 Cents.

webfors 10-15-2001, 08:26 AM Yeah, that's really unfortunate! I was thinking of purchasing WHNbilling but it looks like I'll have to develop one from scratch :(
smartbackups 10-15-2001, 08:43 AM That is sad, you didn't get an authorization first? There surely has to be ways to verify. As with a larger purchase, you should do more of a verification, like calling each potential client.
I for one would as for the money to be wired or company check be mailed if you are having that big of a problem.
I personally get tired of companies demanding credit card payment, after all we are a company, we prefer to pay by check or bank wire. Credit Cards are hard to track and manage for most companies. Plus I feel like I am being like a non-company when someone wants a credit card # from my company.
Si_mbj 10-15-2001, 03:29 PM Hi Everyone,
I'm the developer of WHNBilling, as mentioned in this post the product is no longer being sold by Web Hosting Network.
However this product will be released under a new name shortly with a brand new support site.
Notification of the new details will follow as soon as the structure is in place.
I would like to take this moment to thank Web Hosting Network for their support over the last few months.
regards,
Simon
AlaskanWolf 10-15-2001, 07:28 PM Even though we had such stuff in place, fraudulent orders were still widespread, as with any piece of software, let it be Vbulletin or WHNBilling, you are always going to have fraudulent requests
Since WHN has been in businesss since 1997, due to past chargebacks, we were always loosing our account due to chargebacks, we finally found a great and honest merchant (Nova Merchant) and I decided it would be best that I no longer accept new sales for WHN.
As stated, We have given full ownership of the project to Simon Weller, who designed the software. Once his information is in place, we will post his new URL at webhostingbilling.com
We still plan on helping Simon develop version 2.0 of the software, which includes new services such as Plesk support, Automated suspending of accounts that are declined (in both WHM and the billing area)
This all depends on the release of both major versions of Cpanel (DarkOrb and VDI)
Regards again and thank you for your understanding
