I had lots of problems with them recently and can tell you that their service is not what it used to be. Especially, when it comes to support and dealing with customers. They used to be good but now... I just left them a week, or so, ago. Didn't get the rest of my refund, though. I think Aletia is worth considering. Take a look at their plans.

I've been very satisfied with Tera-Byte's support. A couple of weeks ago I worked with their support people to resolve a thorny issue. Responses to my support emails were always quick and helpful.

No host can please everyone one hundred percent of the time, so you really should do a forum search to get more opinions.

I signed up with tera-byte in mid August, when they were still using cobalt raqs. The speed is great, all the problems I had were resolved quickly, Great prices... I don't know what brand of servers they are using now, though. So I don't know what they will be like now. From what people say they are not as great as the used to be...

>>There are no set up fees from what I know, and yes you can pay monthly.

Hope that helped;)

im just signed up with them, and im on their new servers. there seems to be a slight issue with the time settings on the mysql server, but they are always resolved fast.
aside from that, the speed and the support is good, and the price is in my budget.

Tera for me has been quite ok. The cobalt raqs gave me no problem. my site has very fast speed and I am little bit scary whether the service shifted to new servers will be as good.
Support questions are always replied but they lack a forum which would have been a great welcome feature and made them more popular.
The recent posts against Tera have been answered by Keeg but I dont know how far it was satisfactory re the 20 GB bandwidth offer- many has felt the have been overcharged though Tera maintains that their measurement is accurate.

( Tina - I wish affordablehost provided at least 5 GB if not 10 or 20 with the $70 package )

i wouldn't recommend tera-byte. After being with them for more than a year i left them 3 weeks ago.
They not what they used to be...

First i would like to say Tera-byte has always been excellent in service and support for my Accounts!

Second is it just me or do all the people with complaints for some odd reason not have a profile listed or specifics?

I think we all have encountered those accounts that include spammers, hackers, pornographers, whiners, resource hogs (CPU), and the just plain old, out to take you for what they can users. Might any of the complainers fall under these catogories?

Please do a thorough search on any Host you are considering but also remember the source when takeing in comments of so called previous users!

Well, I'm familiar with niekas story, but not the others. I have had to kill off some posts where a person came and brought up a bunch of old threads just to bash them. Telling your story is fine, though you should do it once in a current thread (or start a thread) and not just dig up tons of old threads and add one liner comments about how they suck, etc.

I am satisfied with the services I get from tera, though I'd be surprised if they didn't have a few unhappy customers for one reason or another.

Yes its true that bashing someone without reason or facts would be considering slandering or similar. Myself ? i'm just bitter, being DDOS'ed on their server by some unknown worm and without access to log files it makes impossible to secure yourself.
They say its impossible to secure agains code red or nimda style virus. But for some reason new host can do that, by configuring router rules very simply.
What makes me bitter that they don't acknowledge the insecurity that exist on tera-byte servers, but rather just bill you for extra bandwidth, when there are no way for webmaster to know that something is wrong. I had to pay 190$ for almost 40GB of xtra traffic, while my third party statistics (webtrends) didn't show any increase of traffic, visitors or pageviews.
For me it simply looked liked they took advantage of the situation and instead of helping out (providing logs or at least promising to fix the security) they just charged for extra bandwidth.
I understood the problem only when i moved to new server and got access to my logs...
i would have stayed with tera-byte, but this incident make me

Thanks for posting specifics of your experience. No single host can possibly please everyone, and the specifics you posted help people to evaluate where you ran into problems with Tera-Byte.
