Hi,

I've been with Rackshack for a while on their $100 a month dedicated server plan. I don't have any particular quams with them, other then the servers are slow and unstable at times. I was wondering if anyone knows of a host that has better service for an equal or better price? Things I basically need are the abilility to add several domains and root access. Also things like php, mysql, other basic stuff like that. Thanks in advance!

Joe

Ev1servers (rackshack) is supposed to be fast and reliable IMHO. Did you check if it's issue with your server configuration?

I seriously doubt that you would find a better bang for the bucks ;) but you are free to try SM and the likes.

Why not consider moving up to one of their better boxes? I've noticed NO slowdowns with them, then again, I'm on one of the best boxes they offer...

Ditto

That might be the reason you are experiencing slow performance or maybe due to software configuration as well.

Well EV1 is fast and stable... rather than changing provider, consider getting your box upgraded or a server management guru to clean it up and speed things along for you.

There has been nothing as fast or reliable as their network in my experience that costs even four times as much considering the amount of transfer that they offer. They are a proven provider that I have been with for two years now.

Ev1 is great no problems at all with them. Fast, reliable and great turnaround time on tickets. I would not go anywhere else until I get my own servers coming soon. I would definetly check your systems out before making a decision to leave maybe you have a load problem of some sort.

Try http://www.serverbeach.com - very smillar to RackShack/ev1, are better in that they do not sell out on servers

They only offer AMD's though, and don't have high performance machines. Prices are decent for ServerBeach, though...

Sometimes selling out on servers can show where the customers really are--and that is taking advantage of excellent deals that EV1 offers.

To Joe: I've upgraded from a number of servers I've had with EV1 over the past year or more, starting with a Duron, then a P4 1.7, then a faster one...then finally I'm where I'm at now: Dual Xeon 2ghz server with a lot of RAM.

You should take the advice from everyone else and try a higher end server. I don't think you will find a better 'supported' un-managed server solution for the price than EV1.

Have to agree. I can't even remember the last time I had downtime on a server at EV1 (other than me mucking things up ;) )

Since their DDoS stuff got cleared up months ago I haven't even had slow downs.

Oh yes I forgot about them running out of servers that is the bad one. I need one right now. Serverbeach they do not offer the worlds greatest control panel Ensim Pro My man. Thats why I do not choose them.....

ServerBeach actually does offer Ensim Pro. The default is only the 100 site license, not the 250 that EV1 offers. You can upgrade to the unlimited license at SB for an additional $30 a month (as opposed to $20 a month at EV1).
