View Full Version : ready to rip my hair out. Need a good ASP host!
anndr0id 02-09-2004, 10:39 AM I've had my businesses website on several different servers over the past month. I've had nothing but trouble. I did my research and seem to keep coming across bad companies! My current host, digitalibiz, has been around since 2000, has good reviews on hosting assured(which i've now come to find out appear to be fake)
I have been down for the past 4 days, and need to move my website immediately. (I always seem to be in this type of prediciment, maybe thats why I am so quick to choose a host)
I need ASP support, and I don't care about price.
All I want is an ASP host that isn't down and tech support that actually answers your problems (preferrably with a # to call)
Does anyone have any suggestions of host they have actually been with? Heresay "I heard this server was good!" has got me into a bind before, so I was hoping to find someone who has actually had a good experience with a host.
Thanks!

Ann,
There are a lot of ASP hosts out there. It all depends on what features you require and how much you are willing to pay?

Yeah, but I don't want to go on the word of the owner of the company. Like I said about my current host, they had great reviews and they told me they had 99% uptime, but I've been down for 4 days.
I want the advice of a real person who is a customer, not of a company.
I don't really care about price, I just need my website to be up 24/7 or as close to is as possible, and tech support that doesnt make me want to band my head into the keyboard.
And I need ASP/Access support, around 300-500MB of space, and around 5GB bandwidth per month.
I would pay for more than that, just to have a good host.
AllenB 02-09-2004, 03:44 PM Hello Ann,
There are some great ASP providers here, provided you do your research.
Two that I have used in the past w/ good experience are matrixresellers.com and reseller-center.com.
Search these forums, they have a wealth of information re providers.
Good luck in your search.
Reliable and decent priced...
fluidhosting.com
infuseweb.com
crystaltech.com
Decent and cheap
crediblehost.com
iration 02-10-2004, 01:51 PM If you're looking for affordable I would recommend
discountasp.net or crystaltech (although I am beginning not to like them).
bonnmac 02-10-2004, 02:28 PM http://handynetworks.com very reliable and support is excellent.
gate2vn 02-10-2004, 02:39 PM anndr0id, try crediblehost.com. I was their reseller before, so I can recommend their services.

Thanks Guys for your responses! I narrowed it down to Fluidhosting and CrystalTech. Crystaltech was sales was nice, but their tech support was VERY rude to me (strange huh?) and they do not actually have multiple domain capability (just re-direct)
I decided to go with fluid hosting. So far they are friendly, tech support is fast and nice, and my site is 5x faster than before.
*crosses fingers* *knocks on wood* looks like I've finally got a good one this time!
Thanks Again!

what about them (crystal) you don't like. I am hosted with them for the last 1.5 years.

iration 02-13-2004, 12:00 AM Ever since Crystaltech upgraded their servers from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003, the service has really degraded. My site has been down a few times.
Their support doesn't seem to knowledgable about .NET. In addition their support is very rude.
Here is another thing, their sales team and their support team contradict one another. I asked one of their sales staff if they support certain asp/asp.net components and they said yes but when I later asked their support staff the same question, they said no. What gives?

I try to stay away from multi-environment hosts, as it is very hard to develop expertise in multiple areas:rolleyes: I use classic asp and I would think I am getting good service since these guys are probably more familiar with that. Haven't had any problems. Their prices are good as well. But .net is another story (that I am not familiar with).
