I am looking to start advertising on my site because I need money to start a hosting company and get myself a new computer.

I have been interisted in some places but, they do click through. From experience advertising no one ever clicks on the banner or buttons.

What places offer pay per impression advertising?

I remember once place payed $3 for every 1,000 hits. Rather good deal if you ask me but I mis placed the link ;) On my other site I could have made $700+ by now.

Anyone help with this?

You could get 3 dollars per 1000 about 1.5 years ago, now your lucky for 1/10th that.

What ever happened to online advertising? Hehe ya it was about 1.5 years ago when I found the offer.

Some advice from a guy who has absolutely no experience:

Click-through isn't THAT bad. If you're getting paid 10 cents a click, which isn't that hard to get, it only takes 5 clicks per 1000 impressions to make $0.50 CPM. Look into getting more targeted advertising or affiliate programs that relate to your site (I'm just babbling here) and blah blah, stuff that'll make you money.
