I am thinking of getting a 1-3u server for my house to host a few sites off of. Nothing to fancy really. I have a cable connection which is very nice (better than my 28.8 that I have had since 1995 but I got cable August...so much difference).
I have found many places that allow me customize "tower" or "mid-tower" stuff like that. But never 1-3u servers.
Do you know where I could customize a 1-3u server?
Thanks,

You can on dell.com, I know... I would personally build it myself though.
Why use a xu server when you obviously won't have rackmounts in your house?
and another thing, your cable internet provider may not allow web servers or just servers in general...
Also most of the time upload speed is capped. Try to upload some files to a fast FTP server and find out what you actual speed is(often lower than promissed by the cable company)
What do you think happens when 100 visitors at a time goto some of the sites hosted and you only have an upload of 15kb/sec or so.
The pages would crawl o the visitors
As experimental server this idea is OK, but i wouldn't recommend it for reliable hosting.

Yeah, a friend of mine was running a unreal tournament server out of his house on cable.... It wasn't too fast, and his cable ended up getting cut totally for "Unauthorized Use".
If you have the money for a 1-3u server, just get one from efreeservers.com ............

Mid-Tower servers are way cheaper. And if you are having it in your house i would recommend a mid-tower.
