We use both,

I prefer FreeBSD, and will use it for all my new servers

Security holes are bad.

Performance is good.

IMO, Both are good, but FreeBSD is Free. I've also heard FreeBSD is more secure.

Well, they are both "free", by different definitions of "free". Redhat is "free beer", while FreeBSD is "free speech"... but lets not open up *that* flamewar.

The relevant part is what I said before: Redhat is known primarily for its extensive security flaws, while FreeBSD is known primarily for its performance (well, that plus its use in untold millions of routers and embedded devices).

I would personally never use RH in any of my systems. If I had to use linux, my first choice is Slack. Else, FreeBSD all the way.

DarkOrb should really support FreeBSD and Mandrake :(

We, at 100mb.ru, use Linux for SQL servers and FreeBSD for
Web servers, dns and mail.

With Linux you get better SMP support and XFS (journaling file system - a great thing in a case of system failuer).

With FreeBSD you get performance and easy updates.
