Hey all, I have a person I'm hosting freely in a subdomain, and he wants to use a personally registered domain name to point to the subdomain. How do I set that up?
For example:
his subdomain would be: hissitename.mysite.com
his registered site would be: hissitename
What DNS info do I use for that? What information does he need for the registrar?
Thanks,
The_Dude

Why dont you just point the .com address to the subdomain?
Its probably not exactly what you want but a lot of registars let you do it.

Later Good idea :agree:. But some registrars charge way too much for this.
If his registrar charges outrageously for it; just have him transfer the domain to a registrar that does it for free.
Stargate comes to mind. You really get a lot for $8.85 a year.

That's what I thought. But I heard mention of DNS info needed? What exactly does he need? Anyway, yeah, I'll just point him to the subdomain. If his pages are setup correctly, no one should ever see the subdomain address, right?
Thanks for the responses
Cheers

You can simply forward/point a domain to another url/IP using MyDomain.com. It's free service.
