Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to get a merchant account without paying a setup fee. I know paypal has it but I would like to use something more professional. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

no setup fees. if you are looking for totally free, then maybe you should stick with paypal.

EDIT: also, this should probly be moved to the e-commerce forum.

Thanks for the mention, rjerina. :)

BTW, illcreations, do you have an anticipated break-even point for the marketing that you did? I mean, do you think that in 30 days, you will be making enough to be able to pay for a small set of monthly costs?

If not, then you might be best to stay with PayPal for this very moment until you are pretty sure you will safely have around $25-35/month available for a complete merchant account & e-commerce solution.

I know and can appreciate your concerns that PayPal is NOT the most desirable solutions in a lot of ways... and many merchants have told me that they did indeed do a lot better after switching to their own merchant accounts after having used just PayPal.

But at the same time, if you're getting virtually no response at all from your marketing - the bigger problem may be getting a marketing strategy in place that works better. Otherwise, you may invest in a new payment system without any immediate benefit.

I guess a 3rd party gateway will be what I will go with no as for 2co and paysystems which one has a better advantage, and are they both completly transparent.

Thanks

There really isn't any 3rd party gateway that is completely transparent as it is necessary for them to make their name known to customers to avoid chargebacks.
