I'm looking for a host and I'm really intrested in hostiva.com V500 plan. It has like everything I need for my site. But latley they have had done time etc... Should I ignore that and go with them or find another host? I need the the features the V500 plans has so I dont really want to loose any features while deciding to go to another host. The price is great too. I cant go much high then 10.95 a month. What do you think I should do? Thanks for your time. :)
Yes, I searched the board.

What features specifically do you need? www.aletiahosting.com seems to be popular and is very inexpensive. Their $10 plan allows for 3 domains to be hosted.. $25 / year for each additional.. 10GB transfer, MySQL, etc. Tell us what features you need and maybe we can throw some suggestions your way. Even then, you're going to have to go with your gut more than anything.

You might want to write Hostiva and ask them why they have experienced down time and whatever your concerns are.
I haven't noticed a lot of that; even during the server migration.
Although, I'm aware, some were down longer than others.
So, if the down time you're referring to was during the server move; I'm pretty sure that's behind them.

Well... I cant go to aletiahosting because they dont allow ikonboard.. I'm a supporter of it and I dont lots of testing etc... So I want:
------------------------------
Price: Cant go any higher then $12.00
300 mb storage or more
fast server.
Realiable.
Good Customer Support
Not really sure about GB transfer... I will be using Forums etc... So I assume a reasponiable amount. It will be a anime site.
99.9% uptime,
CGI, Perl, PHP, MySQL databases
unlimited subdomains
unlimited email accounts
unlimited ftp accounts
unlimited email forwarders
unlimited mailing lists
(yes I know there is no such thing as unlimited)
Rest I guess standard stuff...
------------------------------
Any Suggestions?
------------------------------
Ya hostiva they said everything is ok now, but there slow is down somtimes or really slow and it just seems like there down-time and slowness here and there so often is making me think twice before I choose them.

It's extremely difficult to offer so many features at such a low cost. Those hosts that are attempting to do so are likely to be a bit sluggish simply because they are forced to place more accounts (and larger resource users) on each server to maintain costs.

I'm sure if you were able to pay more, or accept less, there would be more options but for what you require, at the price you require it to be, the options are going to be pretty much what you have now.

One idea may be to look toward some of the newer hosts that are just getting started. Maybe asking if you can advertise them in return for the above package. Newer hosts tend to have less accounts on the server which makes them a bit speedier for a while, and are usually more apt to take on accounts such as yours in return for the advertising to help get them going.

Yes I finally opened my eyes to that. I was looking at site5.com the 'web power' plan. Is there anything compariable to that? I'm willing to pay more now and get better service.

Just a suggestion here and Im not sure this is allowed but will mention it anyway----why not post this in the request forums?
I think it is setup now where hosts will have to respond via email to you......on another note
I agree with Deb, above.
You might also want to go to
www.webhostdir.com
or
www.hostsearch.com
and do a search based on requirements and see what reults?
THEN come back to the forums for feedback!
Good Luck!
