Any host in here use rackmount cases for their servers? If so, where are you buying them from, and about how much are you getting them for? I am looking for a better price on these cases :D

Thanks,
Tcoy~

Antec sells and makes them. http://www.antec-inc.com/

What is a good rackmount case for a supermicro 370dl3 or 370dl3 motherboard? Would the case have to be 2u or 3u?

Basically it would need to have support for the above motherboards

at least 2pci slots, one for graphic card, the other for scsi raid card

2 hardrive bay, probably 5 1/2

redundant power supply, or at least room to add capability

In answer to the original poster's question...

California PC Cases (www.calpc.com) makes some *very* high quality cases. You'll pay more than for an Antec, but to me, it's worth it. You can sign up for a reseller account and get about 10-20% off the prices you see on their public web site.

Take a look at pricewatch.com.
Go to cpu then to cases then to rack.

Here are some sample listings (not my recommendations):

KRI Computer CKS200 2U 4bay ATX Rack mount server case, 250w power $ 189

KRI Computer CK101B 1U 3bay black rack mount server case w/ ATX 180watt auto-sw power $190

Hardware Pro Black 19 inch Metal Chassis w/ ATX 150w $ 195

Hardware Pro EN-2100SX1R 19 rackmount Server Cases, 1U, one 3.5 1.44MB FDD,
1X5.25 CD-OM, 1X internal 3.5 HDD $ 225

P.S. Contact information and URLs are included as appropriate. Site prices are often higher, so must mention pricewatch. Shipping appeared reasonable, about $15 for the ones I checked. Have an understanding about shipping up front.

Oh, it is not always clear how substantially build a case is. I bought 4 at $2xx and they are OK but I would not want to stand on them. I bought one for $350 that I could probably throw off a truck. But, as you know price is not always an indication of quality.

calPC and Boomrack make some nice rackmounts.

Does anyone know who makes the racks that VA Linux Systems uses for their 2200 series? Those are NICE racks.
