i just got my first client for site production and im looking for a super fast host with support for shockwave/flash for under $20/month

Welcome to the forum :) You should have a look around here, and see which hosts have happy customers. You should also probably be a bit more specific, with your needs because it's hard to match something up. I've heard good things about www.venturesonline.com, site5 and hostrocket seem good too. There are a lot of good places out there. It really depends on your specific needs. Good luck,

i wasn't specific in my first post because im not even sure what im looking for, ive only hosted on free servers before so all of this is new to me

Maybe it would be easier for you to go to say, www.hostsearch.com or www.findsp.com and do a search with the specs you're after. You can get a pretty good plan for about $10/month, and these days it's hard to get plain sort of plans. Everything possible is crammed in these days, which is good and bad. I like being with a host that has pleanty of features, but they need to have a server that can handle heaps of dynamic pages otherwise the features just bog it down. Go ahead and have a look, the world of paid hosting is obviously quite different to your free experiences, it should be much better, though in some cases the host might not have any idea at all. Anyway, i'm just rambling now hehe, did you check venturesonline out? You might also have to check with the host if they support xml, most should, but they don't seem to put it on the feature list..

I've heard a lot of good things about Host Matters too, there are heaps of good hosts, I just forget them :stickout:

Shockwave and Flash are client side technologies, so you dont need a host with specific support for them, all hosts are compatible with shockwave and flash.

I have good experience with HostRocket. VenturesOnline and HostMatters seem to have a lot of happy customers, as well.

I suggest you take a look at F5hosting.com or VenturesOnline.com.

You can't go wrong with either one.

I too would recommend Tera Byte and Ventures Online. Moreover, Flash is a client-side technology (it's just a normal file stored on the server), so any host should be able to support it. :)
