You should also probably be a bit more specific, with your needs because it's hard to match something up. I've heard good things about www.venturesonline.com, site5 and hostrocket seem good too. There are a lot of good places out there. It really depends on your specific needs. Good luck, kinetic 10-13-2001, 02:44 AM thanks netXL. all im looking for is under 20/month DNS reg through them shockwave/flash XML thats all i really need. i dont need a cgi-bin or ASP or anything like that i wasn't specific in my first post because im not even sure what im looking for, ive only hosted on free servers before so all of this is new to me NetXL 10-13-2001, 02:58 AM Hey, Maybe it would be easier for you to go to say, www.hostsearch.com or www.findsp.com and do a search with the specs you're after. You can get a pretty good plan for about $10/month, and these days it's hard to get plain sort of plans. Everything possible is crammed in these days, which is good and bad. I like being with a host that has pleanty of features, but they need to have a server that can handle heaps of dynamic pages otherwise the features just bog it down. Go ahead and have a look, the world of paid hosting is obviously quite different to your free experiences, it should be much better, though in some cases the host might not have any idea at all. Anyway, i'm just rambling now hehe, did you check venturesonline out? You might also have to check with the host if they support xml, most should, but they don't seem to put it on the feature list.. Dominic 10-13-2001, 04:49 PM Have a look at Hosting Matters too...:) http://hostmatters.com/plans.html NetXL 10-13-2001, 09:13 PM I've heard a lot of good things about Host Matters too, there are heaps of good hosts, I just forget them :stickout: jw 10-13-2001, 09:32 PM Shockwave and Flash are client side technologies, so you dont need a host with specific support for them, all hosts are compatible with shockwave and flash. M. James 10-14-2001, 12:22 PM I have good experience with HostRocket. VenturesOnline and HostMatters seem to have a lot of happy customers, as well. Curtis H. 10-14-2001, 05:52 PM I suggest you take a look at F5hosting.com or VenturesOnline.com. You can't go wrong with either one. skylab 10-21-2001, 12:45 PM just thought i'd add to this. check http://www.phpwebhosting.com/ amazing service, price, and performance. they're unmetered, and they say they get worried at around 5gb a month, but, i was doing 15gb+ a month, and they worked around my domain, and worked with me while i was moving to a dedicated server.. GTOTYPE 10-21-2001, 01:01 PM Take a look at the following: venturesonline.com tera-byte.com aphosting.com Atlantis 10-21-2001, 02:07 PM Have a look at worldzonepro.com (they will start taking orders next Wednesday or so). avara 10-21-2001, 02:37 PM I too would recommend Tera Byte and Ventures Online. Moreover, Flash is a client-side technology (it's just a normal file stored on the server), so any host should be able to support it. :) |
