I would like to try installing Invision or PHPbb on a subdomain.
However my subdomain is board.domain.net when trying to install here which cpanel only allows me to install from the top domain I get folder allready exists, any help appreciated.

Don't use the installer in cPanel, just manual download or IPB or PHPBB and unzip it in board.domain.net and run there the installer and your done.

yes, that would be your best bet. The installer in cpanel installs an outdated version and doesnt work like it should.

You can pretty much forget about any of the installer scripts that come with cpanel.
