Doing research last summer on this Vancouver based company Webserve.ca. They sounded great 99.9% uptime, loads of features, easy to use webadmin (Ensim) and have been doing webhosting since 1999.

All is well until I started running into problems. Started to get the support run around.
Called the so called 24/7 support line, get automated answering machine. So I leave a msg, get a call back at 12 am EST (I am in Toronto). Did a WHOIS for a non- 1800 #. Found it and called, They question me on how I got that number. Then say they will call back, but never do.

Open a ticket, 2 days later get a response which I already knew the answer to and need it to be fixed, and got fixed 2 days later after 2nd request. (5 day response time)

Then I get a notice yesterday that they are upgrading servers, by know I am furious because I know these guys don't know what they are doing  They claimed a 1-2 hour downtime and gave info on new IPs but no DNS info. DNS and IPs are both required for some registrars to point to the correct name servers. Just remember these guys have been around since 1999! Anyways the server change happened at 11:30 EST and is still down at this very moment.

To top it all off they are rated by a company called Top Hosts Canada #8 out of 15 of the top Canadian webhosts. I think they should re-evaluate that decision.

Anyways if you have taken the time to listen to my rant I thank you. If you are looking for webhosting make sure that everything that they say is true, test them all out if you can. Get your Techinician to ping and do a traceroute to see server response times and if the servers are actually located where the company says they are. Good Luck and remember STAY AWAY FROM WEBSERVE.CA

we've been using them for about a year, and they're constantly down. emails arrive several hours late sometimes, and webpages routinely time-out.
decidedly a company to avoid

email ali@webserve.ca and al@webserve.ca if you have more problems. he's the owner and loves to hear from irate clients.

danielYYZ,

There is no reason to bring up a 2 year old topic. You should've made your own thread with your experience with them.

Maybe take a look at http://www.iweb.ca (http://iweb.ca) - they might fit your bill.

There are many providers in Canada to choose from. You should be able to find one :-)

That's your opinion. I don't have a problem with the reply of this member. Actually I find it interesting to read in the same thread how a host is doing over time, then jumping left and right to 50 other threads. Now if this was about a popular host, ok, then I agree, because you would end up with very long threads, but in this case... mmm... I don't see the problem. Of course, that's just a personal opinon. :)
