Well I've been fighting with this all day.
I'm trying to transfer an account from another reseller (different server of course, WHM). No root access.
It copies the site over as a tarball to the new server (with the "Copy an account from another server with account password" utility), but after downloading the file it just stops. Doesn't create the account or anything. What do I do next? I know I could extract the tar and restore everything (there's an addon domain, some sub domains, etc etc) and it would be a big pain. Am I doing something wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Both sites need to be running the same version of cpanel. The latest edge and release versions have changed the way the transfer function works. The origonating server probably has the last stable version. I just encountered this problem this morning and had to log into the users account download a home back up ( no full backup available because they were using the old outdated xskin ). If you can get the full backup, you should be able to restore it from WHM ( look under backup restore menu option)

It's being transfered from a cp6 server so that may explain it.

Incorrect. We copied over 2 accounts today from a server with an older version of cpanel than ours. We have the latest stable release of 8.8.0 i believe. The old server has 8.5.3 stable.
Account copied over perfectly. You only need to have an 8.6.x or greater version of cpanel if you want to take advantage of the new features in the copy tool.
