After over 2 hours of my time with 'tech' support and 2 months of waiting for e-mail responses I have yet to receive a refund for a SSL certificate order that was billed for but 'never completed?'

Come to find out they dont even have my website, ip, email, address, phone number on file, and the funny thing, stupid on my part is that I registerd another ssl through them before receiving my first refund.

So right now, I have a ssl certificate registerd with them, yet I dont exist. Of course my credit card is being billed, but they dont have it on file?

If you want to have a reliable SSL certificate that won't take advantage of you DONT USE EV1!!!!!

Oh, by the way, I am on hold right now... and have been for the past 10 minutes.

haha speaking of SSL - I know a guy who was in support chat - and just for the heck of it he asked the tech guy "what SSL stands for?"

The tech guy replied "I'll have to look it up. one moment please."

That made me laugh.....sad though, I use them...

The world is strange but it's hard to believe it really that a support tech didn't know what ssl is. Not that I don't trust your words...but hard to believe.

Sounds like the support guy knows what SSL is, he just didn't know what the acronym stood for. No harm there, though you would expect anyone dealing with them on a daily basis would at least at some point and time have the desire to know what it stands for :p. Sounds like a lack of motivation to me :).

Secure Socket Layer?
I know what it is, but I'd want to double check the acronym too :emlaugh:

18,000 customers cant be wrong.

No need to come here in a blind rage when some little thing goes wrong. They didnt get to hosting thousands of people by screwing people. Reputation travels fast.

Now, in a company of that size odds are there will be the occasional error. Give them the benefit of the doubt.

If you truly needed your cert RIGHT NOW and you CANT WAIT I would think hard about your planning skills.

innova That logic is pretty messed up

****** is rather large and has several 1000s of customers and several datacenters But i have first hand experience on how crappy they are. But with your logic they must be good because they have alot of customers

LOL after posting i found out that the name OF THE company is even banned from the forums haha My point is made i believe

Please email me your informaiton and I will look into this situation personally.

Be sure to include all information provided when you signed up for the SSL certificate. As well as the emails that you claim to have sent to the ssl@ev1.net team.

Seraphex I would ask that you do the same so that I can look into why you have not been replied to as well as you claim.

Thank you,

qtmspin; I can barely understand what this could ever have to do with dedicated servers...
There are more appropriate forums to post these issues.

tell that to the leasecomm victims, hundreds of thousands of them

why not? he is just as entitled as you are. youre sounding prety hostile yourself

They didnt get to hosting thousands of people by screwing people. Reputation travels fast.

it certainly does and i often see many things here about RS lack of quality customer service!

Now, in a company of that size odds are there will be the occasional error. Give them the benefit of the doubt.

first he gives them the benefit of his money and now you want him to give them the benefit of the doubt? what does that phrase even mean?? there is no doubt here, he said he paid and didnt get what he paid for. i doubt that is a doubt, that sounds like a fact!

If you truly needed your cert RIGHT NOW and you CANT WAIT I would think hard about your planning skills.

if he paid RIGHT NOW he should get it RIGHT NOW! what part of this do you not seem to understand??? maybe it is for a new client? a special project or JUST BECAUSE! now as far as planning skills goes, if RS has THAT many customers and THAT much money and THAT many servers then it sounds to me like maybe THEY are the ones who should be thinking hard about THEIR planning skills!

give the guy a break!

i guess this is one case where you really do get (or shall i say NOT get) what you pay for!

"qtmspin; I can barely understand what this could ever have to do with dedicated servers...
There are more appropriate forums to post these issues." assumably because RS is a dediacetd server company??

EV1 is a great company. I'm sure any issues you have will be settled in a timely manner.

We've never had a problem with EV1 either. Hope your situation will be resolved soon :)

ev1 has been great for me too.

are you sure your email is working correctly? =)
Also you could try to contact them using IRC Support or their online Support Chat, or why not their forums instead of here

I had no problem getting a refund from EV1. I then got the SSL with them, and "completed" the order.

SSL isn't instant by any means. By ordering an SSL certificate, your information has to be validated, and this can take upwards of 2 weeks.

You must send in cancelled checks (at least with comodo, not sure about others) to verify that yes, you are you. This is done because of the nature of SSL. It's meant to institute a (minor) layer of security that you know who you're doing business with.

As far as ev1 and techs, I'd agree (somewhat) that their techs are allright. I've had countless issues with them, even providing them with step by step details on how to get issues resolved doesn't work with these guys. They still do it their way, thiking they know better than those that are involved with the day to day servers they sell..

The certificates EV1 offers are virtually instant. There is only phone verification.
