i was under the impression you just create a virtual site pointing to your new IP and setup the DNS(if you do it yourself).

at least that's all i did.

but i'm really new at this, so don't take my word for it.

If you are using the new IP for ns2.yourdomain.com and lets call your 2nd IP "ip2" , then :
1)create a A and a PTR record for ns2.yourdomain.com with ip2
2)create a virtual site called ns2.yourdomain.com using ip2
3)go to your domain registrar and register your ip2 as a nameserver called ns2.yourdomain.com,
Richard

k Richard...is it the only way? I mean do I need to mandatory join ip2 with ns2? Can't I utilize with ns1 just registered?
thank you for attention

"The Primary DNS Server Address is the same address as your main machine "....
this is not on my raq!!! I've a different ip number (probably of my isp) also if I'm running my ns1.
Is it safe to change that accord to interliant docs or I could compromise something?

I'm not sure what you are trying to do exactly, but there's more than one way to set it up, and if it works fine, then just set up the second IP (you are trying to set up ns2.yourdomain.com nameserver on the the machine?)

I don't run DNS o the RaQ itself, so I'm not really the one to ask about troubleshooting, though I do know that if what you've done so far works, it isn't incorrect :D

no I don't want to setup ns2.yourdomain.com nameserver on the the machine, I only need to setup a new Vsite using this different second ip.
For ns2 I utilize that of my isp (it has no sense having primary and secondary dns on the same machine...at least that I understood).
For best understanding imagine that I need To setup every Vsite with it's own ip address. And so the Q is how to do that?

i think you can just create a new virtual site using your new IP address and that IP, if your host has it assigned to you correctly(if you're not handling your primary DNS) will become active. name it however you'd like.

in the case of my raq(which is what i'm basing this on of course), i had 3 IPs. i setup ns1.mydomain.com on IP1 & ns2.mydomain.com on IP2 (because i do do my own DNS). then created a virtual site for my domain on IP3. saved. then waited about 20 or so minutes. IP3 was then active and i was able to begin administering the site using IP3.

once i have my backend work done, i will then switch my nameservers with my registrar to my nameservers, and setup the DNS on my raq to point that domain to IP3.

hopefully that helps, if not i apologize. i'm trying!! =)

As skylab said, just set up the site with the IP. Your provider has (or should have, heh) taken care of the things needed to make it work.
