I use a Sony PD-150 DV cam quite often and like it's results and the XLR inputs for audio input. I'm seriously considering purchasing after much research and trials a Canon XL1s this winter, the improvements Canon made on this model were well worth the wait.

On a similar note, I'm looking for nice, easy to use, not really fance, on the lower end of the price range video editing software for a PC...if any of you have any suggestions...they would be much appreciated.

Digital or Non? I have a Hi8 that I'd recommend, but not sure it's what you are looking for? Seems prices on DV have come down, so it probably makes sense to go that route now.

Is this a digital camcorder? How long does the battery usually last? Cost?

Price Quote for the PD150 is $3450

not sure if I want something that expensive since I will prob be bringing it out hunting as well, and fall time in alaska isnt the best weather in the world ;-)

Sony TRV98, usually goes for around $500 in stores, I got it here for slightly less though it might be better to get it locally...

http://www.buydig.com (http://www.buydig.com/cgi-local/shop/web_store.cgi?cart_id=6320544179.1003215315&page=outlet_frontpage_db.html&details=yes&exact_match=on&pro_id=SNVCCDTRV98&search_request_button=yes&accy=&as=)

I'd look into the cheaper digi's too, as I had to get something to transfer the video in to .avi on the computer, then make it mpg or windows media...
