I am certainly not the only one to receive empty (titleless ans bodyless) emails ...

What is it ? A new way of spamming without spamming ?

They are quite annoying ... most of them go trough my spam filter since they are ... empty !

Well at least you dont have to read about penis enlargment or weight loss with these ones, but I dont really see the point.

Must be a noob spammer, no knowing what he is doing.

There has been a discussion about these on the spamcop.net forum. The consensus seem to be split between idiot spammers (ok, that's redundant but you get the idea) and address probes. As you said many spam filters won't see these as there is no content. So the spammer gets to verify that there is a valid email address.

I have found that Mozilla is able to catch most of these. I haven't been able to get my Postfix server to reject them at the server side though.
