At the moment I have a few medium to high dollar accounts that seem to be ignorining me for payment. I have already sent them to collections so at least the items will get added to their credit report, however I'd like to know what others do as a next step after getting items added to ones credit report..

Does public humiliation work... one particular non payer has quite a good front going on for customers but anybody that has worked with them knows the truth...

Anyways.. looking for extra suggestions because I hate having a few grand owed to me but not paid.

Public notice of debts is illegal, unless consent is given by the person in debt.

http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.htm

Specifically:

A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section

...

(3) The publication of a list of consumers who allegedly refuse to pay debts, except to a consumer reporting agency or to persons meeting the requirements of section 603(f) or 604(3)1 of this Act.

Be careful with that one Daniel (public humiliation) it might come back and bite you on the arse :)

I would get your lawyer to contact them and scare them into paying you. Bluffing you could say. :D

Have you turned off service already? If not, that is the first step.

Send them a final warning and do so, per the warning. Send it as a certified letter as well.

I wouldn't go the public humiliation route, sounds like it might make you prone to some legal nastygrams or worse.

Also to add to the public humiliation; if you value your company at all you will NOT go that route. It'll make your company look really bad as well as bring upon the law.

Yeh I suppose so, and yes they've been off for months but evaded it due to changing server IP's to bypass the cpanel licenses :)

I wouldn't let someone sit online and not pay me, I guess I'll have to find a lawyer to go after them then :)

Pursuing them with a lawyer or via collection is totally fine, just don't do anything that would make your company look bad. (i.e. a nastygram on the old Web site domain or something)

The high road is always the better road. :)
