Hello, I'm looking to getting my own merchant account, and I searched the forum for the the best Authorize.net rates, and pretty much came up with nothing. I was wondering if maybe we can get a comprehensive thread here in listing your merchant account provider and all fees associated with using authorize.net

Thanks
Steven

We use CyberAuthorize.com: 2.35%+.30. $10 statement, $15 gateway I believe. $25 minimum in fees (so $50 minimum a month).

Na, we had inquired about their services in the past, and they emailed us a special offer (expired Sept 30): $99 setup. So we went for it. I don't have the email anymore, nor the link. They had a form to fill out online, which then led to something to download I believe. You download the forms, fill them out, and fax them back (they want copies of your drivers license and voided business check). Then you wait a bit and they activate your Authorize.Net account. :) It was pretty easy.

I recently got a merchant account for my site (1usenet.com) via hostmaster2000.com. It cost me quite a bit to get setup (about $1000-), but it included the following:

1. establish a U.S. postal address
2. open a checking account with the Bank of Florida
3. open a Cardservice International merchant account
4. submit an application for registration of fictitious name with the State of Florida
5. publish an ad announcing this fictitious name
6. establish an account with ezic.com gateway

Perhaps because of all these things that had to be done, the entire application process took about 6 weeks (not the 10 days or so they promised). I've been processing cards for one week, and so far it's been great. Too early to make final judgement though.

Oh, and my rates are higher than U.S.-based accounts - 3.3% + 35c. But it's still the lowest I can find. After a few months with them, I'll post another feedback in this forum.

A gateway allows you to accept credit cards on your site, it takes the info and passes it through to the gateway to the customers bank and then to your merchant provider.

Here is a diagram you can take a look at:
