Hi,

I made this little flash intro for a client. It is temporarily used as a 'coming soon' page and will later be used as a showcase demo or whatever he wants to do wityh it.

Please be warned that the file is 119K so it is nothing really fast loading. The music was choosen by my client and I attempted to size it down as much as possible while keeping a decent quality.

some feedback would be appreciated :)

I like it! Very nice intro...short and to the point. It catches your eye and I think it is a job well done.

Nice job!

Excellent quality. I love how there's the tv "errors" where the screen is popping. Good effect. You receive an A+. :)

Excellent work Felix. Now that's a genuine Flash intro for all budding Flash artists out there.

The size is acceptable for this type of movie, and it perfectly conveys the point of the site. Superbly done.

He said

Cool, I love it, it's perfect

and this is the actual message :)

I'm glad you like it as well. I personally find it a bit too dance, but oh well :)

A+... I love it, really well done. I especially like the appearance of film dust when viewing. The only thing I thought that could be better is the ending. It seams to stop abruptly and open the next page. I would end the music first or something, a little smoother transistion.
But, that's just my opinion.

Nice work, Felix.

119K isn't all that bad, if you think about it... and people will generally give you an extra minute on a "Loading..." screen.

On the brutal ending... That is the worst part of the movie actually and it was not meant to be that way. However, my 2 (as in TWO) hd, about 20 GB of data, corrupted, the same day, at the same time, right before my weekly backup.

I lost the source of this flash and I had to juggle with the code to fake the end... in fact I'm overlapping the previous end (it was a coming soon end) so that it kinda looks ok and go to the site.

This is a designer nightmare... I lost so many good (as in too big to be backuped) stuff... My advice? don't use windows.

:)

My advice... back up like crazy!

I wouldn't think of going more than an hour during a work cycle without backing to an external drive.

how do you backup 20+ GB of data every houre?

I don'T know... but I have aroudn 1 GB of rotating data on this computer almost every day. From stuff that I do, samples that I get, pictures, schemes, ... etc, etc, etc.

Tape backups are slow. I don't have whole day to do them... any other idea? I am already backuping critical files every 3 hours automatically with my 8x CD burner, but... thats only for 650 mb out of 20 gb.

Personally, I keep a secondary drive slaved to the master. Drives are dirt cheap these days, so if you really need to keep that much in the air, it's no great cost to add one.

Just think of the cost of the manhours you lose in a serious crash; and suddenly, dropping a hundred bucks or so on extra back-up seems very small indeed.

well :) dirty cheap fro someone that isn't dirty rich...
hmmm...
I'll hold for a while and hope that windows will work fine (yah right)

Thanks for the advice and the tips on the flash design though :P
