Hi everyone,

I'm working a project that requires me to download a large amount of data, about 0.5TB/month, to my server. Also, high uptime is not a big deal for me. I know that dedicated servers/colocation plans are primarily targetted towards serving web pages, and so most of the bandwidth allocated is upstream.

I have a few questions:

1) Are there any cheap hosting companies that fit my requirements?

2) Is downstream(?) bandwidth cheaper than upstream?

3) Is off-peak (hour) bandwidth cheaper?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

i am sure there are but what do you call cheap ? an example price .. ? I woudl suggest a caped MBit solution so you wonīt get a to high bandwidht bill at the end of the month. For example with 2 MBit you could "easily" download the 500 GB per month and you would pay way less then the "usual" per GB prices - also if you use a few more or less GB per month.

2) Is downstream(?) bandwidth cheaper than upstream?

sorry but no

3) Is off-peak (hour) bandwidth cheaper?

also of course not because there isnīt something like "off-hours" avaible or do you know a time where all people on the net are sleeping ? ;o)
