We recently had a client ask us to install these on the server.

Does anyone know what they are, what they do, and if they are safe to install?

Hello,

The first one is a MS ASP component. The second one I have not seen though there is a MS Msxml2.XSLTemplate.4.0 component.

These components or objects are used to support ASP code and functions on Web sites. On a Windows server they are fairly easy to register and install.

What about a Redhat 9 Linux server?

Hello,

Sorry cMark, but I'm afraid I don't know too much about running ASP on Linux. I believe that ASP will run on Apache, but that is only from comments on this and other boards. I am sure that some on this board could explain the pluses and minuses of ASP running under Apache.

IMHO, if you are picking up clients that are requesting ASP functionality and installed components, you may want to consider a Windows reseller account. Hoo boy, I wonder what can of worms that last comment will open.
