View Full Version : Windows 2000 Control Panels
dbarker 10-09-2001, 05:14 PM Hi,
I'm planning to get a co-lo with Windows 2000 Server edition. I need a control panel for my customers and I was wondering if you could suggest any?
Thanks,
David
RackMy.com 10-09-2001, 05:54 PM There really isn't one :( You can take a look at hostingcontroller.com, but be warned it's full of bugs.
ckpeter 10-09-2001, 09:25 PM There is also H-Sphere from psoft.net. Its a bit over kill if you only have one server, since it also runs(and may require) linux and freebsd, but price is reasonable.
There is also exim(only in serverXchange though), sphera, and prefesso. However, these high end panels are highly secretive, and no one knows anything about them. Enxim, for example, ships a dedicated box for serverXchange.
There is also the free webadmin asp script from microsoft, but its not a complete solution.

It is Ensim. (www.ensim.com)
kenatensim 10-09-2001, 11:11 PM Umbilly, thanks for the correction.
There is nothing "secret" about the Ensim Solution. We are currently providing a robust Win2K control panel that manages, IIS, mail, DNS, Microsoft Data sources and more. Currently, you must be a ServerXchange client to use this application.
It is a three tiered solution (Server Owner, Domain Owner and end users at the domain)
You can see the demo at:

RackMy.com 10-09-2001, 11:58 PM When are you guys/gals coming out with the stand alone Windows control panel?
dbarker 10-10-2001, 01:59 AM OK, thanks for the replies. Which one would you recommend? Ensim?, H-Sphere? or Hosting-Controller?
Any had any experiences with these?

dbarker 10-10-2001, 02:17 AM Hi,
Where can I get the 'webadmin' script as I can't find it on the MS site.
David

Good luck with it!

My statement was directed more at professo and sphera. But the price for ensim serverxchange isn't clear on the site.
(P.S. sorry for the misspelling, I must have been thinking about exim, the MTA)

dbarker 10-11-2001, 10:29 AM I think I shall go with Hosting Controller for the moment as it seems the best.

mpkapadia 10-11-2001, 10:47 AM The Microsoft web administration tool requires Active directory services to be enabled and that to best of what my knowledge is slows down the system very much, Isnt it,
I havent tried though, Maybe i should this weekend:D
Anyone out here has used the webadmin tool on a commercial web hosting box.

flyguy1996 10-16-2001, 12:07 AM I took a look at Psoft's H-Sphere and it looks pretty decent. The prices aren't too bad once you get past the relatively minor startup fee. And it says they can put everything on one server initially if that's all you've got.
I also looked at Hostingcontroller but the s/w is $500 up front. A little steep if you're just a small startup like me. And I gave the MS webadmin route a try, but their server crapped out once I registered and I couldn't download the file.
Anyway, has anyone had any real experience with H-Sphere (or similar cpanel s/w they liked) and what they thought of the software? Thanks in advance. Tony
