I'm interested in becoming a mirror download site for some software, as a possible form of advertising. I'm wondering if this is a good way to attract people to your site. Basically I can afford to put 200GB of bandwidth to do this. I want to know if it will be worth it in the long run and will this actually get my site some hits?

I think it depends on the software. If you're mirroring something web developers would be using, and your download is fast and solid, then yes, I believe that it may work.

Hmm...know any good places with that software that are looking for mirrors?

You could try PHP.net, or maybe Sourceforge.
Those are the two that come to mind first :)

PHP.net perhaps....Sourceforge....I'm thinking terabytes of data transfer, even PHP.net, I think they look for a lot more than what I can give. But I'll check php.net out for sure. Thanks.
