TransOptics is currently offering managed solutions to place the server of your choice on our optical infrastructure. We are offering 12,000 GB of data transfer for $3,000/month.

The price includes power, bandwidth, hardware management, and basic management such as power on and off. We make sure you experience no down time other than software issues. Additional management such as building kernels, troubleshooting, etc. is charged at $130/hr. We have management packages to limit this cost. The servers are configured for remote management so that you are in charge of your entire operation.

Servers can be provided for TransOptics to put on our network, or we can secure servers and pass through the lease payments. You will also be charged $35 per rack unit per month for equipment. Gives us your specs and we'll quote you a package.

The pricing above applies in mutliples. If 12,000GB is $3,000 then 1200 GB would be $300 and so on.

Contact sales@transoptics.com for more details.

you got your math wrong, it's off by a factor of 10 ... He is offering 12000 GB (twelve thousands) not 1200 GB (twelve hundreds) for $3000/mo ... which is about $80/mbps/mo as rackmy.com said ... :)

cheers,

well if it is being hosting on catalog then sprintlink is the main pipe they use.

the last 2 trace points to transoptics.com is:
~~~~
18 70 ms 80 ms 70 ms sl-ethoscomm-3-0.sprintlink.net [144.232.236.34]
19 70 ms 91 ms 80 ms aux153.plano.net [204.215.60.153]
~~~~
which plano.net is catalogs local dallas isp site that runs everything up to t1s so it's either
a) on a t1/dsl/isdn connection to them hosting the site
b) using catalog hosting for the website.

not sure but either way it is a bit odd to say the least :confused:

I checked on this company and they use cogent for a majority of their bandwidth and from what they say a few others, the cogent is what turned me away.

Lightning fast for me and my cable connection, not alway's the best way to get good pings so 121 ms wasn't so bad. But by the very little time the page loaded I could tell the bytes transfered per second must have been very high.
