Someone sent me 25 cents (blah) but anyhow, i clicked ACCEPT... and it said

You have not yet added a credit card to your PayPal account.

Before you may accept this payment, you must add a credit card by pressing the "Add Credit Card" button below.

If you would like to deny this payment, please press the "Deny Payment" button below. The payment will be marked as "Denied" and the sender will receive an email notification about the denied payment.

what the ????
Why do i need a credit card to recieve money
*sigh*
Is there any way around this?

More likely someone tried to pay you with a credit card, rather than their PayPal account balance.
It should answer your question as to whether your account is active though.
You may want to PM PaypalDamon if you have specific questions regarding your account.

I'm pretty sure that for international users Paypal requires that a credit card be linked to the account in order to verify your identity. For US users they can do the same thing through a bank account, but international bank transactions are too expensive (and messy) for that to work.

I'm not sure if it has ever been possible to use a Paypal account completely anonymously, and I'm sure that with the FBI now trying to track every $ moving anywhere in the world they would require some verification of identity.

International users do need to confirm a credit card before accepting payments. This method is one of our verification (identification) methods to help deter credit card fraud.

hi, ive setup a paypal account and its running fine, i did have to setup a credit card as i am in the UK, i setup my VISA debit card, it deducted $1 from my card to my account as a test and verification as im in the UK.

i then went and removed the cash from the paypal account to my credit card, it worked a treat, it took a couple of weeks to transfer which made me a little unhappy, as the money seemed to just disappear for almost a week, paypal didnt know where it was and neither did my bank, although paypal did offer to do a trace if it went missing for more than a week.

Then suddenly just as i was going to call paypal to ask where it was the money appeared in my bank account, twas great :-)
