View Full Version : www.datapacket.net ie: Data Packet Network question
dannylove 10-09-2001, 01:35 PM ~http://www.datapacket.net/vhosting.htm~
well, i'm very new here, i believe this is my second post :D and I searched regarding this company and just found another similar post about this company, but my question differs.
Their plan looks very nice. And I'm considering signing up for the DPN HOST 1. Right now I'm currently with www.aplushosting.com (http://www.aplushosting.com) and they are fine but the month rate is starting to bug me, and so as my month is coming to an end, I'm taking the time to bail out.
But my question is this. I already emailed the company, but I haven't received any emails from them reagarding my question (tells me something about server, hmmmmmmmmmmm)
I simply need to know if this hosting plan supports FLASH, and PHP. and also if this plan has its own unique IP for FTP login.
if anyone is a customer to this company or has been with this company/plan, please LET ME KNOW!!!! thanks in advanced!
danny~!
dannylove 10-09-2001, 02:13 PM well, apparently I was emailing the wrong person. I looked up their contact tab and noticed other emails that I can direct my question. In about 5-10 mins I received my answer. Very quick.
Now to answer questions:
Flash is supported :)
"You can use PHP on our servers but we do not support it nor advertise it. This means if you experience problems we will not provide you with support for PHP." :)
"The FTP ip does not change it is static." :)
I am definately going to sign up with these guys. Very cheap pricing and very excellent support and plan. :)

Vortech 10-09-2001, 02:16 PM If this is the same DPN or www.datapacket.net you may want to try searching a little more... I have seen a lot of bad things on these guys..
Read (http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=17177&highlight=DPN)
I would hope flash is supported on any server as it is client side not server side.. :) Just a note.. hehe

I'm still reading the thread, but I don't think I'll be reconsidering, I think this was a fair argument on the DPN side.

Vortech 10-09-2001, 02:51 PM I dont mind ether way really... I wish you all the luck in the world.. I hope they do get better i have nothing bad to say about them my self.. I have just seen post after post bad support, slow support, changing pricing on there users.. Some of it may not be there fault i don't know as i don't work for them..
So agian i wish you luck...
Any one here use DPN and like them????
dannylove 10-09-2001, 03:07 PM yea, there are mainly lots of biased arguments. But in the link you provided, I think this was an excellent argument since both representives were presented (ie: user, company) and after reading the thread, I stand up dnp's responses. It was a fair debate.
Thanks for your well wishing. I also wish myself the best of luck :stickout

. . . . I am definately going to sign up with these guys. Very cheap pricing and very excellent support and plan. . . .Are you sure you came looking for insight into this company?
You answer your first post within 45 minutes with, "I'm definately going to sign . . . . ."
You don't want to listen to anyone that has anything negative to say about DPN.
All just seems a bit contrived. Forgive my suspicions. But, I am prone to them when someone looks for opinions on a host and disgards those opinions as pointless attacks against a wonderful company.
edude 10-10-2001, 06:23 AM I agree with SWR on this one (uhh). You just seem to suspicious...

dcdomain 10-10-2001, 07:03 AM Calm down people, he's clean. dannylove's a longtime member of the Anandtech forums, he's not doing anything here that would cast a shadow on himself.
And c'mon Hostexp! Shouldn't you be working on your 'business?' Still can't log-in! Waiting for you to finish transfering your support infrastructure to the new servers.
edude 10-10-2001, 09:17 AM Well, thanks for the clarification. Dcdomain, i have people working on that section. Also you can't login because namezer0 hasn't updated your nameservers... check your pm.
