Hi,

I use cPanel and neomail.

I login the FTP client and download the whole mail directory to my home PC. Then I upload the mail directory to a new hosting account.

However, I found that I need to create the email accounts again in the cPanel before I can login the email accounts and read all the backup emails.

Can I also backup some files so that I do not need to create the email accounts again?

Thanks~

Well if you use Cpanel, the easy way is to login to Cpanel, do a full backup, and then send that backup to your new host and ask them to restore the backup for you. You would have everything back, including your website, emails, account settings, and more.

Hi,

Yes, full backup is the best solution. However, it takes a lot of time.

What if I only need to backup the emails and it's setting?

Thanks~~

Backup and move /home/user_name/etc and /home/user_name/mail.

and if you have other settings, also backup and move

/etc/valiases/domain.com (for any aliases/forwarders you may have set)
/etc/vfilters/domain.com (for filtering rules you may have set for emails)

to also add on, /home/user_name/etc will be for the username/passwords/home directory of the email accounts while /home/user_name/mail is where the actual inboxes and emails are stored.
