I have noticed that it is almost impossible to buy bandwidth less than $2/GB. But I see tones of hosts selling their packages for around $1/GB. So how do they do it? Everyone overselling their packages?
I can't possibly list them all. But here is a small list.
Venturesonline
$19.95/15GB
$24.95/20GB
Tera-byte
$9.95/20GB
Aletiahosting
$7.95/10GB
Hostiva
$2.95/5GB
$4.95/10GB
$9.95/20GB with 5 IPs
Site5
$27/27GB
Ewsnl
$9.95/30GB
Hostrocket
$9.95/15GB
LiquidWeb
$24.95/30GB

Playing the averages game. :) If all customers use up their allowed bandwidth ...*plop* they're out of business.

There is a way to sell cheap data transfer, as we are talking about Data Transfer and not Bandwidth. If you were to rent an entire rack from a Tier 1 Provider, you are not charged for Data Transfer, rather you are charged for either a 10 Base, 100 Base, or greater connection to their switches and an agreed upon line speed (128 Kbps/256/keeps going up...). So however much transfer you can push per month is what you get. The downside is that renting an entire rack is generally out of reach for smaller companies.

First of all I dont agree with that
There are definatly ways to get bandwidth at under $2, actually closer to 1 or under.
And not all companies oversell there products.
THere are many that do, and then they run into problems

Bandwidth is not bandwidth, I only mention BGP.
And support is not support. Some learn it the hard way.
Just my personal opinion.

I would be interested to know which providers offer anything close to $1 or under. I have done a search at this forum. I have looked at least over 30 dedicated providers. The only company offer that sort of price is rackshack.

EFS @ $1/GB (if you're a reseller). Otherwise it's $1.50/GB (not too shabby!). At least that's what I remember.
