Hello,

I am currently using my desktop as a dedicated server for the home network and it's running Linux. As many of you know, Linux is not the perfect Desktop OS, and everybody complained when I restarted it when it had Win2k on it..

Currently I am using my laptop as my main system, and letting my 20" flat screen monitor go to waste :(

I was wondering if any of you had a spare computer that you'd be willing to send me..doesn't need to be a great system at all:
<= 150Mhz
<= 64MB Ram
<= 1-2 GB Hard Drive
CD Drive
I can provide the NIC card, etc...

The system can have whatever OS that's currently on it, and any data - I will be reformatting it anyway and putting RedHat 7.1 on it.

If you have a system with specs similar (or higher :)) posted above, please PM me or E-Mail me at matt@techboost.com. You can also contact me via any of the methods listed in my profile.

Why ask us for one why not ask VDI.net for one.... seems like if you work for them they would provide you with the tools you need.

Pull out a server from the datacenter and use it. :) :D

You can take 64MB (no more) out of my server there at VDI. But wait ... my server comes with 512MB memory module ... hmm ... :D

OK, I will think of what I can spare for you ... perharps memory ...

cheers,
:beer:

I'd offer my p100, but then I'd need to find something else to hold all my mp3s...

The easiest way to get cheap computers is from schools. They have tons of old junky pc's they'd love to donate. Once I was in a library of my college and saw some people moving stuff out of a room. I went over and looked. Next thing you know I had 5 extra 386's in my apartment. Needless to say, I dumped the computers and saved the monitors. :)

The hospital I do some work at was tossing out 19" monitors because 1) some had a scratch or two 2) a button or two would be broken....

Lots of wasted money!!!!
